The Crimson Wing

Beate’s first once again:

This film shows us how every year flamingos from all over return to the Natron Lake in Tanzania to mate and rear chicks. The landscape is stunning and the story very interesting, with the added cutesy factor of the flamingo chicks. I had never seen flamingos land or take off just like planes before, using their legs to slow down or speed up, or do a mating choreography worthy of any ballet dancer. It is however not quite as thrilling or funny as the March of the Penguins was, and the narration is sometimes over the top poetic, with music swelling and another gorgeous landscape shot thrown in for good measure. 7.5/10
