Saw 'Hay Fever' tonight. It was a nice enough evening, but not really my sort of thing. My 16 year old daughter didn't like it much!! I thought the first act was quite slow. The couple in front of me, left at the interval. The final act was much livelier and quite amusing. I wouldn't go again, but would recommend it to people who I know would appreciate that type of humour.

Saw Duchess Of Malfi tonight.
I enjoyed it and did become emotional with the gripping scenes even though I couldn't understand about half what was said. (they talk a bit like in riddles) There was some humour amongst the tragedy.
I can understand why C_T left early but the 2nd half does pick up a bit.

Saw Duchess of Malfi tonight too at a packed Old Vic. Lovely to see cliveas, who got seats in the row in front of us. We did well with our seats. They were really good central seats at the back of the Dress Circle which was only 5 rows deep, with no blocked views.
The play is very well produced and acted, great sets, but the story (based loosely on real events, as I found out later) was a little bit hard to understand at first as I got lost who's who, and the poetic language they used. The second act was really macabre and very tragic with a lot of horror killings, as befits a Jacobean drama. It did have quite a bit of humour interspersed with the tragedy. OH loved it. An entertaining play and I was gripped.
