Cosi fan tutte - Islington

#1403 Post by cliveas » Fri May 30, 2014 7:36 am

Cosi fan tutte
02 June 2014 7.30pm

Mozart's famous and much loved comedy about two sisters, Fiordiligi and Dorabella, and their fiancés Ferrando and Guglielmo, who after a wager with the cynical Don Alfonso, try to test the girls' fidelity by posing as strangers and trying to seduce them. Aided by the maid Despina, Don Alfonso's plot has the girls hoodwinked and much hilarity ensues. Will love win over all in the end?

St. Marys Church, Upper Street, London N1 2TX.

Free entry on a first come first served basis.

Housed - The Old Vic

#1404 Post by cliveas » Fri May 30, 2014 7:36 am

“Like a billion Dick Whittingtons…”

From estate agents to squatters, from support workers to oligarchs, we are all united in a race to get a place. But who can afford to go the distance? Luckily Sam’s got a chance to make a change, to make things better somehow. Sam’s going to tell us the answer. He just doesn’t know what it is yet.

David Watson’s epic tale, based on the testimonies of over 200 Londoners, is a response to the mounting housing crisis and asks what it means to find some space in a city that’s squeezing you out.

The Old Vic Community Company is excited to announce their first production, formed of 30 performers and 45 back stage participants. Thank you to the 1,281 people who auditioned to be a part of the production.

Housed will be performed in two venues:
Hotel Elephant, Units A & B, 40-42 Newington Causeway, SE1 6DR : Friday 11 July 8pm; Saturday 12 July 3pm & 8pm
The Old Vic, 103 The Cut, London, SE1 8NB: Sunday 20 July 4pm and 8pm

TICKETS: Free

There will an understudy performance of VENICE PRESERV'D by Thomas Otway on Monday, June 2nd at 7.30 pm. This semi-immersive promenade production by The Spectators' Guild is performed at an ad hoc venue in Deptford: the Paines & Borthwick Wharf Development, Borthwick Street, London SE8 3JF.

This is a rare opportunity to see one of Restoration theatre's great successes, unrevived since the 1980s NT version, in a vivid, beautiful and imaginative staging with a substantial budget and a large cast. The action extends over two and half hours, in a number of locations, some of them in the open air, and the overall effect is bold, atmospheric and inspiring.

Travel details and a map are available here: http://www.venicepreservd.co.uk/travel

Open admission.
