The Harold Pinter Theatre is tucked away in Panton Street, between Leicester Square and Haymarket, a very cosy, but labyrinth theatre. The tiny seating area in the Stalls were put to inventive use for the Sunny Afternoon show last night. I am assuming that, as I have never been to this theatre before, that the layout does not consists of a catwalk? The catwalk jutted out from the middle of the stage into the audience, with table seating either side of the catwalk, and table seating at the back of the Stalls too creating an intimate gig space rather than being at the theatre. The actors would come up and down the aisle too, so using the full Stall area.

We sat at the tables at the back, four to a table, and the seats are stuck down! Only realised as I tried to move the chair closer to the table I was sitting at to get more comfortable. It was great having a table though, as it is gives you a lot more space, leg room and somewhere to put your drinks!

Before the show started, an usher walked round with a big placard saying no photos and no recording, so alas, unable to take any sneaky shots.

Good production for Kinks fans and non-fans alike, from the oldies who remembers them to the young's first experience, as the music is really good and the songs really catchy. The voices were really good especially the lead singers who took the part of Ray Davies and his wife Rasa. An enjoyable and easy watch, especially at the end of a long, busy and stressful week at work, where it combines the excitement of a concert down to the screaming fans, with the spirit of the rebellious youth of the sixties. The second half seemed a tad long though, but everyone did stand at the end to have a boogie.

It was full house last night in the Stalls.

I managed to abduct a lovely girl from Ecuador who was waiting at the bus stop heading home, to be my plus one, after accosting a dozen passer-bys, who could not understand what a free ticket means and steered well clear of me! haha. One older lady said she knows the kinks, when I asked her, and was almost hooked until the young lady with her, shouted in horror "mum, let's go" and dragging her away, while her mum followed her muttering, they are free tickets! I just did not want to waste perfectly good tickets.

I got a text back from the lovely girl afterwards" Thank you for the offer, enjoyed every second". My good deed for the day and a new friend made! :D

Thanks for the interesting review pxc!

I can assure you that the theatre layout does not generally consist of a catwalk.

I know how difficult it can be sometimes to give away completely free tickets and I will have to pick your brains for techniques on abducting lovely girls!!

The catwalk and tables were put in specifically for this show (they had the same seating layout at Hampstead theatre before it transferred to the West End).

Love it! :giggle:

Maaan, it's been ages since I had time for any West End. Interesting to hear you say you don't have to be a fan to enjoy the show. I feared maybe it would be otherwise. Thanks for the review, pxc! o/

We managed to get on the guest list for The Beautiful South (now called the South) at the Holmfirth Picturedrome last night (it was snowing up on them hills... brrr). They were brilliant. There was a band called A Harp and a Monkey and they were brilliant too

I was a little worried, the lovely girl from Ecuador would be bored as she is too young to know of the Kinks, but she loved it! o/

Afternoon All.

Possibly the wrong place to post this, but I need to use up my final Groupon Odeon cinema ticket before Friday and wondered whether anyone had any recommendations on what to see?

I live in North London (Kentish Town) and happy to drive somewhere if it comes highly recommended.

Thanks in advance.
