Sorcerers Apprentice: Surprisingly very funny, mostly because of Jay Baruchal (the main antangonist) and Cage is mostly always fun to watch no matter how crap the film is. Its all fantasy nonsense with subtlety thrown out of the window but I will watch the sequels if the comedy levels are maintained. I have not seen Barachal in anything else but recognised the voice from How to train your dragon. He's got excellent comic timing. 7/10
I didn't know there was a sequel. Might look that up o/

Oh I dont know if there are any sequels in the works but as this is based on a series of books, I thought there may be possibilities and if so I would watch them. Didnt mean to raise your hopes and dash it! I know how cruel that can be! It depends if this film did well enough, did it?

Just caught the end of this program about the Dambusters airplanes and their pilots. Was very interesting to be honest.

True. No worries, no hopes raised, not for this film anyway. It was more of a lazy fun adventure anyway  What are the books called? I might look them up instead.

I've just watched The Thin Blue Line on BBC4 with a knotted stomach and boiling blood. Brilliant.

Absolutely compelling story, simply told - although reconstructions were quite innovative at the time - which directly led to the release of the innocent Randall Adams convicted through incompetence, greed, blinkered policing and sheer bad luck.

Wait, this film isnt based on childrens's books? Where the heck did I get that notion from? I am obviously supremely knowledgeable in my research of movies I watch, aren't I?

I saw Tintin again last night, this time in 2D at Shepherds Bush cinema. I loved again, second time around. This time I focussed more on the background details in the animation, (something that you cant confortably do in 3D). I found there was so much more going on in the background and some quite funny that I found myself laughing while others probably wondering what the hell I am on because there was nothing funny going on with the main scene itself. I did admittely yawn a couple of times towards the end but this is still a movie that is pushing the boundary of animation further and with Spielberg's classic sense of adventure, this would have been a highly entertaining feature for the Xmas holidays. I think we got this too early. America is seeing this on 22Dec which is defintiely a better release time for this. Having said that, it is too long for kids. My freind who is a massive tintin fan loved the film but admitted his 2 kids would have likely fallen asleep if he brough them along.

Saw Elena last night at the Russian Film Festival at the Apollo, Piccadilly. o/

I picked my winner's tickets up as usual and waited first in the queue to be let into our screening room, but at the last minute, we were let into screen 4 instead of screen 5 as on our tickets. Anyway, we went to our favourite seats, centre back row and the room filled up. Then when all the seats were nearly all taken, a couple arrived and said we were in their seats! Oops, did not know that the tickets had seat numbers on them, so off we went to look for the right seats only to find that others were sitting in them, their seats had been taken by people with the same ticket numbers. However, as there were two seats on either side of another couple, they moved up so we could have seats together so we all ended up in the wrong seats! ;)

Then just before the intro from the Russian critic, more people came and said we were in their seats! :wall: We refused to budge as we already lost our really good seats at the back, and now all the seats were taken, and we had been the first to arrive. Great that all the Russians around us, backed us up so they had to go and find seats elsewhere, and sit separately.

Anyway, during the intro, I was distracted by more altercation in the row in front, as two more people were looking for seats and other people were in the same seats! :wall: I think it is likely what happened is Screen 4 and 5 tickets were issued but for the same seats. What chaos!

The film starts slowly and quietly, and then grips you with its human dilemma and morals, and shows that blood is indeed thicker than water, when the mother decides to do something drastic to help her son and family. And what a difference between the rich and poor!

It is very well acted, with the Russian actress providing a very strong lead. Apparently she is up for an award, the European equivalent of the Oscars and she is in competition with Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia). Luckily, it was a good film, as it was the only day I could make (except the opening night but we could not go to that!) after winning tickets for the festival. 8/10

I wouldn't mind see this again! 2D sounds like a good option too!
