I am always interested in anything about Marilyn Monroe, so when I heard my friend's friend wrote this play Hello Norma Jeane, I immediately wanted to go to the opening night, unfortunately, I was away and only just managed to catch it this Sunday, it is only showing on a Sunday at the Kings Head Theatre in Islington.
What a gem of a place the pub and theatre is, in the middle of Upper Street. A really nice pub with a theatre at the back. The theatre is independent to the Young's pub we were told by the Bookings Manager who introduced the theatre and the show, Hello Norma Jeane, an interesting concept and story regarding the equally interesting life of Marilyn Monroe, written by a brilliant writer, Dylan Costello. Well worth catching, only two more shows to go, until 2 November, especially as the wonderful 'Allo 'Allo star, Vicki Michelle stars in it, plus a host of really good actors who make up the rest of the cast, who are all brilliant in their performances. What is also good is the seats are comfortable for a small theatre.
The theatre is very intimate, so you feel that you are in the show as you are so close to the actors. Also an unexpected treat is they actually have delicious ice cream in the interval, just like at the West End theatres!
Another nice thing is after the show you can have a drink in the pub and meet the actors. Although, Vicki Michelle did not remember me, I remembered meeting her at the Run for Your Wife premiere, which her daughter stars in it. All in all a very friendly place, in a convenient location, and if you add a good show, you would get a thoroughly enjoyable evening out.

Speaking of people talking when they shouldn't, I went to see a play on Saturday night and the audience did not shut up! There were offenders coming from at least three parts of the audience and they were all middle-aged and above, so old enough to know better. One of them even filled in a dramatic pause. Kid ye not.
I really wish Beate had been there, she'd have shut them up one way or another.

Yes, why do they rustle sweet wrappers especially during a quiet bit too, when it is a small theatre, it is even more annoying. Surprised the actors could concentrate and not tell them to be quiet!
