Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I thought it would have been better to have the show in a nightclub, rather than a theatre. It seemed more suited to clubbing entertainment, with all the loud music and lighting.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I went to see 'Let It Be' this afternoon and absolutely loved it!! My Sister treated me to Pizza Hut beforehand and my Daughter met up with us as she finished College early and was just up the road. (I think she regretted that decision .. she's only 17 and claimed she'd never heard of The Beatles!! She only knew one song, but clapped along nonetheless!!) As for me and my Sister, we sung along to every song and bopped in our seats. Was sooooo tempted to be the first one to stand up and dance, but was told by my girl that I would be an embarrassment!! Was so pleased at the end when we were told to 'get up on our feet!!' We were in the second row and at the end, the fellas shook hands with the front row ... I leaned forward to shake the hand of 'John Lennon' and he gave me a plectrum with 'Let It Be' written on it!! I gave it to my Son who was well pleased as he's learning to play the guitar at the moment.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
bit shocked that some young people in the front row left halfway....
well maybe not completely suprised lol on my current form but cant understand how someone would turn down such great music - the two twentysomethings in front of me looked thoroughly bored without their iphones.

Saw Let It Be today (as many others here, so it seems) and we sat fourth row from the front, perfect view
Now this is no musical but "merely" a tribute act type show without dialogue or story. However, I knew this beforehand so was prepared for the concert experience and wasn't disappointed. I really, really loved hearing (part of) the Beatles' greatest hits with matching outfits to that period of their career. The individual voices of the "John" and "Paul" weren't very accurate but when the voices blended together they sounded really great. It was however WAY too loud (even if they wanted to mimick a real concert) so I did stuff some tissues in my ears...

I'm going tomorrow, hope that I a) get seats and b) get good seats like yours! Keeping an open mind about this one.canadian_turtle wrote:Saw Let It Be today (as many others here, so it seems) and we sat fourth row from the front, perfect viewNow this is no musical but "merely" a tribute act type show without dialogue or story. I went to see Siro-A today @ Leicester Sq. Theater and even though I think that those guys were really talented and that their performance was extremely clean in terms of choreography and synchronization it just didn't feel right, The venue was horrible and the time was just wrong, 4:30pm with an extremely loud electronic music ITS JUST WRONG, dont take me wrong Im not a boring person, I just went few months back to david guetta's concert and calvin harries, so I do like electronic music, but I like it at night, with some alcohol in my system and that is probably why I didnt quite enjoy Siro, if I would have seen this performance at The minister of sound I would have probably enjoyed it A LOT.

Went to the Card Shark Show tonight with my mum & the kids, we all really enjoyed it, especially my son who is currently very into magic and card tricks.
I think an hour was just long enough and it was very cleverly done and entertaining set to a history of cards/tricks/magic stories. Steve Truglia certainly knows his stuff, he was also very nice, spoke to my son about cards and magic and where to learn tricks after the show and signed his programme, on the way out we were all given a deck of playing cards each.
At the end of the show, it was announced that the run was being extended and that they were moving to a different venue (which will be confirmed shortly) where ticket prices were likely to be cheaper and there was also a 2 for 1 voucher code in each of the decks of cards.
Was also very nice to see mandmc10 and her family tonight.
........and it really was my son's lucky night, he met Rio Ferdinand on our way out, who also stopped and spoke to him and he had a photo!

I had a busy couple of days, went to see Let It Be despite the mixed reviews, if only to satisfy my curiosity. Enjoyed the show for the most part but they're not the best Beatles tribute band I've seen. I could nitpick and point out a few bum notes here and there, some sound issues and vocals not being spot on occasionally, but my main issue was with the setlist. Not nearly enough of the early stuff, and then too many mediocre songs (When I'm 64!), but missing out the likes of Paperback Writer, Yellow Submarine, Penny Lane, 8 Days A Week, etc. I liked seeing old adverts and hearing snippets of other '60s bands during set changes, that's a nice idea, and the background projections were pretty good (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds especially). Overall 7/10.
For comparison, I rated the band in Backbeat 8/10, The Silver Beats 9/10 and Bootleg Beatles 10/10.
But it's an hour of pure fun, all the performers are excellent, what they do is very inventive, seamlessly blending video projections and dance, it's funny and sweet (kids in the audience seemed to enjoy it), and the music is really good too. A great example of why I love Japan. Highly recommended 10/10.
I also went to see American Justice at the Arts Theatre, I've met one of the actors a few times so was egged on by a mutual friend to go and see him on stage. Once I got used to them all trying to do American accents, actually quite enjoyed it, builds to a great ending and Ryan Gage (soon to be seen in the next Hobbit film) was particularly good. 8/10

Siro-A is repetitive? Totally disagree. Every routine is different! I loved the show, I don't mind that it's in a seated theatre, frankly prefer sitting down these days...raj101 wrote:Siro is loud and fun, but repetitive.
