Saw Once, the musical last night (not a freebie but a decent preview priced ticket direct from ATG). What a lovely piece of theatre with an extremely talented cast.
I thoroughly enjoyed this production from start to finish. No spectacular special effects but a wonderful story. You even get the opportunity to b*y a drink from the bar on-stage during the interval. Highly recommended.

Glad the show was good. I'm actually taking my Dad this evening to see this, so I'm really glad to hear such a good review. Just wondered, if you remembered how long the show was? x

I hope you enjoy it. It started at 7.30pm and I think it finished at about 10.05pm.
A tip: go in to the auditorium early, the stage is set as a bar and musicians/actors are already on stage playing typical Irish folk music before the show starts. You can even go up on stage and b*y a drink from the on-stage bar!

the final scene before the interval between Sir Robert Morton (a fantastic performance by Peter Sullivan, who was the highlight of the production for me) and Ronnie (an also excellent performance by Charlie Rowe - I can't believe he's only 16 years old!) was mesmerizing.

I saw this too, but on Tuesday. I got really great seats too

Also saw this on the Tuesday, but with restricted view seats. That scene is quite pivotal, but was spoiled for me by a missing plot point.

[spoiler]He was smoking and was caught out by Morton, making it look even more unlikely that he would take the case. However it was this that convinced him that Ronnie was telling the truth about the postal order, just hiding the smoking.[/spoiler]

Daughter tells me this (your spoiler) was not mentioned in Thursday's performance either. I'm guessing that you know the play well, cliveas, so noticed it was missing but why would they have left this bit of information out?

I've seen more than one version of the film (and the classic one more than once!) so I'm fairly familiar with the story. I was therefore sitting there waiting for what is the turning point in the scene.

I wasn't sure whether it was an error or an edit, but if it is an edit then I have no idea why it was left out. Furthermore if there was a reason for leaving it out then surely it would have made more sense to leave out the reference to the missing half hour after going to his locker altogether.

For people reading this that haven't been, please don't get the wrong idea; this aside it was a good solid production of a classic story. Well worth seeing.

Agree this was an excellent production. We saw it on Tuesday and daughter and son on Thursday and we all agreed on how good it was. Our Tuesday seats were not good (I was behind a pillar in the back of the stalls!!) but son and daughter who had their Monday performance cancelled and were offered Thursday tickets, ended up with superb seats in the stalls, so they lucked out.

Thanks for the tip, we got there just after 7, so got to see quite a bit of the folk music.. which was a nice added extra. I also really enjoyed the show. I thought the acting, singing and whole production was really good. Very impressive, considering only one set is used and there are no costume changes or effects... Will be thoroughly recommending the show to all my friends.
