In my experience the allocations can be quite spread out, but it's quite possible. I don't think either of us will be hanging around afterwards though!asamaic wrote:Might bump into you then, cliveas, SFF allocations are often in the same few rows.cliveas wrote:That's what I'm doing as well. Two full length shows in one day is a lot, but I promised I'd review the evening show and a West End comp is hard to say no to.Glad to hear the positive feedback so far, and thanks to sonia for commenting on the run time as well.

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I also went to see West End Men last night. While I did recognise most of the songs I too thought that the show was somewhat lacking. The first half was very classical (lots of Andrew Lloyd Webber; Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat) and towards the end became rather dull. The only spark of energy for me was the performance of Matt Willis' Busted hit "The Year 3000" as it was hilariously out of place and also because it's a song that was big when I was in high school.
The second half was certainly more alive and kicking with music from Rent, We Will Rock You, West Side Story and Wicked as well as a beautiful rendition of "One Day More" from Les Mis with a choir as back-up. Unfortunately I was once more reminded that I'm really not a fan of Kerry Ellis' voice and I thought she was the worst bit about the second half. Still, the guys sang a Josh Groban song, so that made me very happy ^_^
There's no doubt that the four leads are incredibly talented (and while I was until last night unfamiliar with David Thaxton I was particularly taken with his voice and will now certainly seek him out on the West End stage) but the concert as a whole feels suited more as a one-off in a church around Christmas time, than as a West End show that has to fill the theatre night after night.
6.5/10
For those enquiring about the running time: It was less than 2 hours last night as it finished before 10pm.

That's okay, I don't need him (just listen to him) as I've seen plenty of Broadway actors in the past 1.5 weeks I'd rather "take"

Re: Free Theatre/Concert Tickets Discussion Thread
I went to see west end men last night too.
We got really good seats in the stalls row j
Great view but no leg room at all (and I'm only short)
Ok show is alright more of a concert (which I hadn't noticed in advert)
Wow such amazing voices but all the cast. Have to agree that Kerry Ellis wasn't really that impressive following them anyway.
I only knew half the songs. But would happily go again just to hear them sing. Hopefully after they settle into the role the banter will be quite good between them all.
6/10 for show its self
9/10 for performers

In the first half they did sing a song from roles they've played, didn't they? (Lee from Joseph, Glenn from JSC)
