Dover Big Screen

JOIN THE BIG SCREEN CELEBRATIONS IN DOVER MARKET SQUARE A weekend of free events is coming to the Big Screen in Dover Market Square on 24/25 July when Film All Dover gets ready to roll as part of the Cultural Olympiad celebrations across the country.

The screen in Dover is showing the hit film Mamma Mia! (PG) at 2pm... on Saturday 24 July, and people everywhere are invited to dress up Abba style and sing along to the hits.

The Railway Swing Band will also be performing a free concert of film music from 6pm in the Market Square on Saturday.

On Sunday 25 July, the screen will be showing the comedy Cool Runnings (PG) from 2pm, inviting people to relive the Olympic dream.

The Cultural Olympiad celebrations, which were launched in September 2008, mark the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games. The installation of the Big Screen in Dover followed a wide range of partners working together. It was installed for use by the community, and for screening national events, including showing the 2012 Olympics. The BBC provides content and manages the screen.

The Big Screen celebrations also run alongside a free Artists’ Films in the Grand Shaft event, organized by Dover Arts Development Ltd (DAD), with films showing in the Grand Shaft at the Western Heights, Dover from 1pm-6pm Saturday and 1pm-5pm on Sunday. For more information on the Big Screen in Dover, please log onto http://www.dover.gov.uk or you can follow the screen on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/doverbigscreen or find us on Facebook, search for the ‘Dover Big Screen’ group.
