They cut the red carpet feed at 7pm for and started rolling the film so that part wasn't too bad. Was impressive to see what they'd done to Trafalgar Square.

As for the film I really enjoyed it and for me worked really well as a standalone film with never having read the books and only seen films one and three. I thought it was well paced and not rushed at all so maybe that's a benefit of not having expectations or any background knowledge. Apart from at the start you could barely notice the 3D and I don't see the point of having it (except for commercial gain & gimmick) at least it was bright enough and wasn't darkened by the glasses.

9/10

LOL not sure whether to bother with seeing part one next week. :shifty:

I havent read any posts here yet as I am just dying to just expel my overloaded and probably incomprehensible thoughts onto this white box I'm typing in. I am just still filled with andrenaline from watching this beautiful conclusion to a magnicently adapted saga. I am not writing any review yet because my thoughts are just a jumble of emotions ranging from "s**t, this is the end..bwaaa", "s**t, is this really the end?? bwaaaa, sniff" to "s**t, this is the end isnt it? bwaaa" to "thank f**king hell I made those 3d to 2D glasses!"

So I shant write any review now other than I think this was a truly great, exhilerating and beautiful ending with a certain flashback sequence that will forever be engrained in my memory.

But first, I want to thank and blow kisses to wonderful Aruif for getting me tickets for this.

And furthermore I sat next to a HP megastar, Weirdfilms ;) Weirdy, was great to meet and chat with you again. And as usual, it is always a special treat to meet the lovely dynamic super girls PCX, Beate, Val, MariaLionza, Funthing! Wish I spent more time with you girls, I dont care if some of you with your OHs :shifty:

I got there very early (around 4:40pm) and so watched pretty much most of the red carpet shananigans. And I actually enjoyed it all. This is the end of a ten your movie journey and I think it was just.

Unfortunately, the film was darkly lit as I suspect it would be, the O2 projection just dont care, I am sure they know they have to raise the brightness levels for 3d films but they just dont bloody care. And my 3d to 2d glasses couldnt rectify that either :(

OK, gonna shut up and read all your posts now ;)

I enjoyed seeing the red carpet footage and watching the stars being interviewed at first but then it just went on and on and on. It was lovely to have an FMUK reunion at the back of the screen. :D Nice to see Beate, pxc, hd, valda, SS, MrG and weirdfilms (yes, that was me ;) ) and also to see canadian_turtle on the way out.

I am really glad to read that I am not the only one who thought the 3D was poorly done. When Harry went to confront Voldemort in the forest at the end, I was really distracted and couldn’t help but think ‘what are the fuzzy bits floating around near Harry’s head’. They should have kept this in 2D rather than doing such a shabby job. In some moments the 3D was executed well but often was unnecessary.

As for the film, I thoroughly enjoyed it! All the action and drama here definitely make up for the dullness of part 1. The fight and battle scenes were terrific and definitely gave the story the momentous climax it deserved. The break in at Gringotts was entertaining and the escape on the dragon was brilliant. Some of the scenes did feel rushed and a lot of the famous actors were reduced to cameo appearances, but the Hogwarts battle really was a sequence to behold and I was pleased they expanded it to make it more dramatic. Ralph Fiennes was excellent as usual and he always made Voldemort as manically evil as he should be.

I sobbed when I read the book and I will be honest that I got cried watching this as well. Considering he only really appears in a montage of scenes, Alan Rickman was superb. The emotion that he portrays with a minimal amount of dialogue and the way he makes such rushed backstory believable is an exceptional performance. I was incredibly moved by the moment where Snape held Lily’s dead body.

The King’s Cross scene which I was never that keen on the in the book because it interrupts the action, worked quite well and it was nice to see Gambon make Dumbledore soft and gentle in the way that Richard Harris did (rather than his bad temper and aggressiveness in the other films).

Radcliffe clearly pushed himself near the end when Harry faced death, but Grint and Watson did nothing to elevate their performances than that of previous films. As for the ending 19 years later, that was awful! I couldn’t stop laughing and I was cringing. Whoever did the ageing make-up should be shot!

This is definitely worth another watch and I shall go see it in 2D. 8.5/10.

I actually think it was longer than the film itself! It started around 5.15pm or so and went on to 7.45pm - the film was only 2 hours long!

Firstly, thank you so much to Sunny Saver for saving the day! :bighug:

Unfortunately, my name on the ticket was no good, my name had to be on the guest list. While we were discussing how to get in, I spied canadian_turtle, as she got tickets from the same FMUKer, and we both only knew the person's first name but it was not enough, although finally they relented as the first name was on there although only two tickets against that name, so I told canadian_turtle and her plus one to go in, as Sunny Saver could get me and my OH in on her's and her OH's spares. Phew!

I enjoyed the footage, well what I saw of it, as I was too busy catching up with everyone! I so wanted to be there too! The ariel views looked amazing! Lovely to see Beate, MrG, wierdy, funthing, valda, sunny saver, canadian_turtle, milkchocmonkey, and the top of hdaniel82's head.

This was much, much better than I expected. Part 1 was so boring, so had hoped this would be much better and it was, best of the lot! I really enjoyed it. Even my OH said it was okay, which is praise from him! The action was great, but the end battle between HP and Voldemort. was a bit of an anti-climax. I thought it was also very true to the book that at times I felt like I had already seen it! Deja vu indeed. Thanks MrG for the 3D to 2D glasses - they worked a treat! 8/10

Was lucky enough to see the premiere courtesy of Sky last night in Glasgow. The movie is much better than Part 1, plenty of action as usual, 3D was good but not 100% necessary, the effects would have been great in good old 2D as well. Loved the movie, liked the way it all got tied up neatly at the end. An definite must see..... whether you are a HP fan or not.

ps... note to JK..... please do NOT do any more HP books... much as I love HP this was the best film end to a series of movies and would be a hard hard act to follow.

I didn't realise they'd started it that early. I didn't get into the screen until just after 6. I wish the O2 had done what another cinema did and cut it off at 7.
