Another Clapham viewer here (thanks again Superhero!), no wonder the cinema was packed! :D
I agree with what most of the people said about this movie: very emotional, well acted and directed but the final part was a bit rushed, especially from the bit in which we find out what eventually happened to Sarah. 8.5/10

I was also at the packed Clapham Picturehouse yesterday for this gem. What a brilliant film. Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted and so touching. It falters in the home stretch as once it becomes fully based in modern day, the perfectly crafted tone feels somewhat disjointed and overdone, but this can be forgiven as there seemed to be a lot of material the director needed to cover in two hours. This subject will always be emotive but the performances here perfectly deliver on the material. The girl who plays Sarah was incredible. I also enjoyed the balance of French and English in this, which made it feel just that much more realistic. This is an easy 9/10, brought down a bit by the anti-climatic close to the film and the obvious name choice (though I do appreciate the red-herring they threw in there, even if it was a strange answer to his question). This surely deserves an Oscar nom for Best Foreign Language Film.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

I absolutely loved this. Beautifully shot, poignant and touching. It just makes you wonder about the atrocious things that human beings can do this to each other in times of war.

Was it your sister that was sitting next to me? Because she was crying too :P

I am a quiet crier, as in tears were streaming down my face but I don't think you'd have heard me ;)

AHA! So it was her! Yes she was the auburn haired girl on your left. Somehow I managed not to cry (most unlike me for this kind of subject matter). The film that has made me cry the most ever, I think I was in tears for a good 75-80% of the film was "We Were Here", a wonderful film that was shown at this years Lesbian and Gay Film Festival about people's experiences of the HIV/AIDS crisis in San Francisco in the 1980s and 1990s. Definitely worth seeing. Total sobfest though. 15,000+ gay men died in a 10 year period.

Maybe we should start a topic about "Films that made us cry". For some reason I always rate them highly. For me it was The Lives of Others that reduced me to a swivelling wreck.

"Films that made us cry" is an excellent suggestion Beate.

I think there should have been a warning on Sarah's Key. I hadn't seen the trailer so was not expecting to be sat there with tears streaming down my face and without tissues. Trust me, I wasn't a pretty sight at the end of the film :tears: !

That was me! I was completely unprepared for this movie (partly my own fauly for not reading up on what it was about) so that's why it probably hit me harder still...

I like that suggestion, Beate ^_^
