Went to West India Quay but find it very difficult to comment on the film. The projection was out of focus and horrible (not to mention the appalling 3D which made a dark film even darker). I found it impossible to enjoy and absolutely scandalous a cinema can't do what it's supposed to do: Project!

I'm emailing here to complain: https://www.cineworld.co.uk/contact - I'm wondering if any other FMUKers who went would also like to complain so we have strength in numbers and hopefully some free tickets because that was so far from good enough.

Watched at The O2 tonight on my way back from West India Quay. One word to sum up the entire "Fright Night" experience: FUN.

It's certainly not as good as the original "Fright Night" (a personal childhood favourite) but it is one solid ride! The Chris Sarandon cameo too was very unexpected - he played Jerry Dandrige in the 1985 original and over here was reduced to the role of a hapless accident victim. Still counts as a personal endorsement though, doesn't it? :) The writing wasn't great. David Tennant harassing his mistress (maid?) was very unimaginative, and unnecessarily vulgar.

Some of the 3D effects were good but I don't know...every 3D affair I've had so far at the O2 has been disappointing and, it might just be me, but there's always an unbearable amount of glare on the entire top section of my glasses.

Overall, pretty cool flick. I'd recommend it to my friends in a heartbeat.

Saw this at WIQ today. I haven't seen the original so all I had to go with was the trailer. I can understand why people dont see the point of a remake. I really enjoyed it but I wouldn't call it a horror movie as it wasn't that scary (I don't know whether I am disappointed or not. Kill List will probably make up for it tomorrow). The 3D was not necessary but b*ght a certain affect to it. Nice to meet some FMUKers and others were pointed out to me by the lovely prettyxcool who saved me a seat but I didnt get a chance to say hi. I loved David Tennant's character :p Get me drunk and I'll try anything. 7/10

I'm sure I mentioned the fact that David Tennant is shirtless. In 3D. And that's why I loved the movie.

Note to self: Get Tennant drunk :giggle:

I wrote a proper review on here before I am sure, so I'll keep it short:

Loved it still during second viewing. The movie was scarier than I remembered (I normally don't do horror movies at all - but this isn't really horror) but still great fun. David Tennant's scenes steal the show (I am trying to say this unbiased, he IS Very funny in it) as do vamp!Christopher Charles Mintz-Plasse's. I think Anton Yelchin does a great job as well. 8.5/10

Also, pretty much half of London based FMUK was at WIQ tonight for the double bill - which was fab! Thanks so much cliveas for the mags :D

I love3d this!
Although the title seemed strangely familiar I did not realise this was a remake (despite having seen the original several years ago). I really though that David Tennant, once he'd removed his false moustache and beard seemed to lapse into Doctor Who character - nothing wrong with that! - and remained that way throughout the rest of the movie, albeit with a bottle of Madiera permanently glued to his hand and no sign of his blue box!

The 3D definitely had its moments for me - and I usually stuggle to make it work - especially the floating embers/ash on more than one occasion. That'll be the ubiquitous floating things taht appear in every 3D movie. I could almost swear I could smell burning wood too, but that would be 4D then.

Thouroughly entertaining and much better that the previous preview horror - The Last Exorcist.

A big 9/10 for me.

A worthy second part to the double-whammy. I think we should all get a badge for completing that feat!

I thought it was pretty good, I was hoping it would be cheesy like the original and it was. The 3D was well used and the storyline wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. A good switch off and just enjoy the stupidness movie so 7/10 for me :)

Did anybody else at Edinburgh Cineworld doing the double get stung for the parking charges? I was raging to find that despite validating my parking ticket I still had to p*y as I'd exceeded 4 hours apparantly - despite frequenting the establishment for which the parking was provided! Grrrrrrrrrr!

Will rant about this in the appropriate place too!

I am surprised no one has mentioned the fact that, at West India Quays, the projection was not only out of focus, and (as usual darkly lit) but it was also f***ing zoomed in. So basically 2/3 of the time everyone's forehead is clipped off...unless this some kind of new camera work. Boy did this annoy me throughout the whole damn film.

Was quite overwhelmed to meet so many fmukers for the first time as well as those I know. Oh Canadian_turtle, forgive my lightheaded confusion, in mixing you up with someone else!

I knew this would not be patch on the original which I have seen about several times. I was right but it was still an enjoyable evening at the cinema. Its a faster paced ride than the original. Tenant was so Russel Brand that I wondered why they didnt just cast real thing! Of course Tenant brought a lot fun to the proceeding as we expect him to, I just wish this remake kept the same back story as the original Vincent, I can understand the idea with this particular re-imagining but it elimanated some of the fun of original. The rest of the cast were also pretty good.

7/10 (ignoring the chopped off heads, dark projection and out of focusness)
