Got to the Hospital Club this afternoon for the film and was shown to a small screening room with big comfy red chairs.
A woman came in and offered us drinks before it was about to start.
I have not seen the original so I can't compare the two but the film was good maybe not as jumpy or frightful as I thought it would be.
A bit ordinary and the plot was nowhere near to what I understood from the trailer.
It was also very direct as in when you expect something behind the door, it will be behind the door. You would expect
twists in horror films these days but it was lacking here. I haven't decided whether that is a good thing yet.
What carried the film was exceptional acting from Bailee Madison even Katie Holmes was good in this although the
chemistry with Guy Pearce wasn't there and not much depth in the character.
It has its flaws and a couple of plot holes, but this film is worth seeing it you are into the creepy dark fairytale kind of theme. 7/10
