I saw it last night at the Institut Francais which was absolutely packed - every single place taken. All in all I enjoyed the film, quite a sad story - although I will not give away the plot here. I am a big fan of Catherine Deneuve and it was lovely to see her in a completely different role to the ones she normally plays. Chiara Mastroianni (Deneuve's real-life daughter) was enchanting as Vera, and you could see that they carried over their mother-daughter relationship to their respective roles. Ludivine Sagnier was wonderful as the younger Madeleine and brought a quirky innocence to the role. It was if the Director (Christophe Honore) couldn't decide whether he wanted to make a comedy, drama or a musical and so it was a mix of all three - likewise the dialogue was a mix of French, English and Czech. The only annoyance was the the film was too long (2 hrs 20 mins) which meant I couldn't stay for the Q&A session with Honore as I had to rush off.

Thanks for the review ladams888. It's nice to hear about the less mainstream films too on FMUK o/

I agree with you about it being too long. I think I missed a bit of the dialogue. The q&a was shambles, I dont think he had answers for some of the questions so kept repeating about what he wanted to put across.
