First off all the Toy Story short beforehand: Brilliant. By far my favourite Toy Story short so far, I could not stop laughing (and mini Buzz was too cute!)
The film itself was a true testimony to the legacy of the Muppets. From Walter fanboying the TV-show and the glory days of the Muppets (I need his Kermit watch by the way!) to the storyline of saving the theatre which is the same story from It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie.
I knew there was going to be some singing in the movie but didn't realise it would be quite so much and I loved it. The original songs were sweet and catchy and the self-mocking (the "rain" on the window comes to mind) was absolutely hilarious. Hearing Rainbow Connection again was glorious and I am glad they managed to add a Rock of Ages song too (We Built This City)
Jason Segel was as great as I expected him to be and Amy Adams suitably toned down her singing/dancing as she was not a central character in this movie. Loved all the cameos! I feel there was a lost opportunity by not having a NPH/Jason Segel duet, but I do understand they were trying not to take away from the main storyline and the main characters; the Muppets itself.
10/10
(I was very disappointed by the lack of "fun in the foyer" at the Empire this time though. Not a single cupcake in sight and not even a green screen to get a picture with the Muppets. You can do better than that, Disney!)
