Re: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
Took the kids to see this today at the O2, first time in the balcony, sat right at the front which was great for the kids, perfect view of the screen, not too close and no tall people in front! The only thing is the hour long wait before the film, it's hard to keep the kids quiet and entertained for so long. Also met a few more FMUKer's which was nice.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the film, it was straight into the action, which had the kids gripped right from the outset and the pace never really slowed. It was really good fun, not too serious, Gabato had some great lines we all found him very funny. I thought the 3D was really worthwhile, had us jumping out of our seats several times. There were a few plot holes
the island and Atlantis rises and falls every 140 years and has done for 1000's or years, yet it completely crumbled when it was sinking, what happens to the animals, how do they survive or come back each time. Also should the bird not have been smaller than the bee?.....but of course these things never occurred to the kids
The miniature animals were absolutely adorable and I'd love to ride a bumblebee!!
If you're looking for something to keep the kids entertained during half term, this is it, I'd even recommend the 3D as a must. My son didn't take his eyes off the screen or utter a single word during the whole film he was that engrossed, daughter at 7 found some parts a little scary and jumped out of her seat a few times, but again couldn't take her eyes off the screen and the only words she uttered were during the lizard scene when she whispered 'is this film a happy or sad ending?'. 9/10

Re: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
We saw this in Glasgow and loved it. It is mindless, children fun. Nothing to think about but that is good for a Sunday morning's viewing. We loved the 3D too and the pec popping. Did everyone else have the wee short film before it - Daffy's Rhapsody? 8/10
And it was really nice to meet your lovely daughter and the great wee chat we had before the popcorn spill. Still needs to learn to multitask then.
Of course it is always lovely to see me.moggers wrote:We also met Yinster which is always lovely.
They say in the film that small animals are big and big animals are small (explaining Gulliver's Travels) but that doesn't explain why only some animals have a different size, which was my question.
Yinster wrote:
Thought they explain that in the film, something to do with a book.
If you are talking about the bird and bees I guess the bird is relatively small in real life so should be smaller than the bee on the island but then if they did that who would chase them?
canadian_turtle wrote:
that doesn't explain why only some animals have a different size, which was my question.
Re: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
True, true. I was just wondering if there was more of an explanation in the Mysterious Island book, but it sounds like I have to read it myself as I don't think anyone else here has (yet) :)

Re: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
This is a lovely kiddies film. The little girl, probably about 3, on her parent's lap in the row in front of me really enjoyed it, she was oohing and aahing, and there were little squeals from her. You just have to suspend believe as it is full of plot holes, and just go with the flow and enjoy it as it is. Good clean fun, and the 3D was good for a change. Great to see so many FMUKers too at the O2.
