Oh yeah, that Empire Big Screen opening sequence was awesome! Forgot about that, I thought I was getting impaled at one point. I regret I didnt see the whole film on its release.

I think you are mistaken "disgusting and gruesome" for "awesome" :p

Islington Vue Xtreme smelt new! It was not as big as I was expecting, we were told it was 2 double decker buses and better digital and better surround sound. Most of the cinema seats were reserved for people on the guest list, except the back 3 or 4 rows and the seats on the sides. Once we were let in, it was very disorganised, the ushers would not let us sit anywhere that were unreserved in the centre at the back, but made everyone fill up the right hand side seats and so those that came later had the better centred seats at the back. Grrr! We tried to ignore them and eventually they gave up directing people. We finally managed to grab the back row with the steps going down from the seats so had loads of leg room - I think these will become Beate's fave seats!

We had an intro about the cinema that all the seats were VIP except about 4 rows in the middle which were Superior. Apparently there are only 8 Xtreme screens in the UK. We saw Loki being photographed right in front of where bevvy was sitting and then he gave a brief intro about The Avengers before we saw a trailer. It looked good and I can't wait to see it!

John Carter was still as cheesy on second viewing, but still good to look at and I still enjoyed it! Although I still have unanswered questions! 8/10

Good to see hdaniel and OH, bevvy and 5rannoch, who all had guest seats, and ejwrank and OH were in front of us on the VIP seats. Thanks so much to valda for taking me along! o/

We had VIP tickets thanks to jeancomp as we are only plebs but we tried to behave like VIPs. Husband and I found this long, tiresome and very silly. We wondered if it would ever end. The 'new" Extreme Vue is actually just two small cinemas turned into one large one but for those used to the O2 and Leicester Square Empire, it won't be all that impressive. When we entered the chemical smell of all the new seating was quite overwhelming and Tom Hiddleston in his short intro commented on it too.

As we were queuing in the foyer a VUE employee came over to us and asked if we were looking for Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and looked pretty amazed when we said no. That really put us in our place and both husband and I are now feeling quite ancient. And as we were leaving someone else asked us if we wanted to do a vox pop. We said we had nothing good to say about the film and beat a hasty retreat.

Glad to see Valda and pxc (we were amazed at the stamina of pxc as this was her second viewing), 5rannoch, bevvy and a sighting of hdaniel from afar.

I think someone in Disney is going to lose their job over the fiasco that is John Carter. It's going to be an almighty flop for Disney.

Yes but it's tracking badly at the moment in the States. I am pretty sure it won't get to $100million in the States, whereas Disney expected at least $200million.

Serves them right for commissioning such a poorly conceived project to begin with.

Mark Kermode has just slated this film on Film 24. Am I the only person who enjoyed it? Waste of time turning the 2d into 3d making viewing unnecessarily uncomfortable having to wear 3d glasses for 2 1/4 hours, but that said I still enjoyed the film, I loved the story, the acting was on the most part very good and I've managed to sit through 2 screenings so surely it can't be that bad???
