I think I was the only one laughing in the screening I saw, maybe I laugh inappropriately sometimes though
the lift scenes reminded me of monsters inc

the orb reminded me of hellraisers
I also managed to say out loud at appropriate moment: "Oh no". So must have been absorbed at that stage.
Loved the scientific take on controlling old world gods and monsters, thought it was going to be genetic experiment
nothing in the film was related to the poster, I expected a rocket ship looking at that. Would like to see it again to get a true feel of the comic genius here as I was too jumpy to appreciate some of it. Same thing went with Evil dead II, I totally missed the comedy due to being scared rigid 8O

I think that was the idea. The whole movie was a piss-take on the horror genre.
That's the way I took it anyway :)

I had only seen the trailer, I do not read reviews before going to see films as other people's opinions are just that, other people's opinions, it does not mean I will be of the same opinion basically. Having seen the trailer, I was expecting it to be some kind of "Hostel"-like film. And it was...for about 30 minutes...but then it changed into something else and then again into something else...It felt like the director was not sure what type of movie he wanted to make...And it felt like short films put together and not like a "whole".
A lot of laughing in the cinema. Me and my friend laughed, but man, not because it was funny...more like because it was crap! and more like "what the hell does this have to do with the previous part and what are all these monsters doing together and what is all this?".
I hardly ever give bad reviews but in my opinion this is a big fail. And I can tell you had I pa*d to see it, I would have been very angry I had wasted my money on that.
I was also at the Vue West End and I couldn't agree more. I can see what the film was trying to do & I would perhaps like to say this in a more erudite or eloquent matter, however I can't be asked. I thought overall it was shite! An hour & a half of my life that I won't get back 2/10

My sister who walked out after 15 minutes (now THAT was funny) would give it a less than zero rating were it possible. She gave me ear-ache all the way home - for taking her to see it!

I disagree guys - I think this film did exactly what it said on the tin. It was a tongue-in-cheek horror and, whilst it wasn't the best I've seen, I thought it was certainly worth a watch. I'd give this bad boy a 7 / 10.

i recently watched 'tucker and dale vs evil' which i thought was a much better (but low key) cabin in the woods horror / comedy. i didn't really think that much of this. am such a whedon fan i had 2 sets of tickets but don't think i will watch it again. i just got the feeling the spark was missing here.
whedon does like his end of the world scenarios! angel (the dark ones charge), dollhouse (a technological / apocalyptic end of our world) and now this where they were sitting on a hellmouth of the old gods indeed. lol.
the atmosphere in wood green was quite subdued, i thought, except a couple near me who laughed really loud at every little joke and seemed to think it was a riotous film. i wondered about them but from the reviews on here it seems they were in the majority.

Did anyone think this should of been an '18' there was so much blood?
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"

A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Saw it in the Vue West End last night. Having not read up on it at all (I usually try to see a film knowing nothing about it), I was shocked at how appalling it was. What a load of codswallop! As if the first half wasn't bad enough - the second half was even worse. Wish I'd stayed in and watched EastEnders - that's how bad it was!

Saw this is in the Vue in Islington last night. I got what it was trying to do, but it didn't quite get there for me, personally. It was, however, fairly entertaining with some moments that did make me laugh out loud, but the last third of the film was quite a letdown. Not sure that I would have wanted to p*y for it, but as a free screening, you couldn't really complain......

I actually thought that was the whole point, to keep making you think it was something it wasn't, so you never really know what was happening until right at the end and only then you get it. I also think it was supposed to be fun and not a 'serious' horror, it was obviously a little far fetched but again it was meant to be.
Preferred Cinema's now Paignton or Exeter!

I thought this film was equal parts bonkers fun and absolutely terrifying (yes, I did gasp on more than one occasion). I knew this wouldn't be a regular horror but it was still too jumpy for my taste and would've liked (even more) comedy instead. I loved scenes like
the ones with the lifts (both the way the camera panned out to show all the separate cubicles as well as the bloodfest when all the monsters were unleashed. Though why did there have to be a clown?? *shudders*) as well as the ones making fun of the concept (the scientists ogling the "whore", the slashing going on on the screens in the background while they partied, Marty saying he's not a puppet followed by "I think I'm going for a walk", etc).
I personally loved how it kept you guessing throughout. However, I wasn't happy with the eventual "big reveal"
(which was one of my earliest guesses became of the stone tablets we see). I would've much preferred the reality TV concept.
Also, Fran Kranz is awesome and easily the best thing about the whole film.

Also, a question:
If the ritual required the 5 components of: the whore, the athlete, the scholar, the fool and the virgin, how would it have worked in Japan where they unleashed the evil in a classroom full of 9 year-olds?
7.5/10
