Here's my review for Mirror Mirror: http://londonfilmfanatiq.com/2012/03/27/mirror-mirror/

This didn't move me in anyway. Not anywhere near good enough to be memorable, nor bad enough for that either. Mehror Mehror, I'd say.

Quite an uninspiring attempt at "re-imagining" the classic Snow White story. The film feels over-long despite its modest running time, all characters were one-dimensional, the acting was rather bland (even from Roberts), and most attempts at humour were poorly written and the comedic timing felt off. The musical number over the credits just felt bizarre and random. 5/10.

mm trailer makes it look like a tv version of Ella Enchanted type material. Kristin Kreuks was better than this (on tv on Saturday). Fortunately we have Once Upon A Time.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I enjoyed this, loved the scenery and the sets, Julia Roberts was good and most of the support too. Liked the humour and the CGI.

The costumes were Amazing and Gorgeous and topless Armie was worth a look. A few looks actually.

Stay for the credits!
Preferred Cinemas :
Richmond, Kingston, West End, Wimbledon, Shepherds Bush, Clapham, Westfield, Fulham

Just came back from this. I loved it from begining to end. Every character clearly worked out with so much humor: Nathan Lane AND the dwarves carry the story of the underdog with great wit while the technical part worked out the lyricism you expect from a Grimm story.
After the titles there is a mention to someone which I just googled and it was the dress designer. Amazing gowns, just amazing. Eiko Ishioka was also guilty for having dressed the actors in The Fall, the beautiful fairy tale with Lee Pace.

I just came back from watching this too. Its definitely a family orientated Easter Holiday pantomime style movie and is unfair to be comparing this with the forthcoming movie which looks more like a "Company of Wolves" type of film. Two very different films aimed at two very different audiences. This is a film to take the children to. On that level, I quite enjoyed it for what it was on the whole but I also couldnt help being bored in quite a few places too. Julia Roberts is obviously enjoying herself and provided the most laughs with her sardonic jibes. The dwarves were fun and not exactly what you expected them to be. They remind me a lot of the Time Bandits actually which gave me a bonus bit of fun. It was nice to see the twisted alterations on the story and characters of the classic fairytale.

The Prince was funny but so stupid, I couldnt fathom why Snow White would actually fall for him...oh right because he looks dashing and had his shirt off  Honestly, she should have just gone out with one of the dwarves who was smitten by her, quite a good looking fella too actually, maybe he should have taken his shirt off, he might have had a chance.

The visuals were suitably colourful for this fairytale fable but nothing really outstanding that takes your breath away. Since the tone of this film was fairly childish, I think Tarsem Singh should have just gone all the way and put in a couple of song and dance sequences to spark it up, make it part of the Palace ballroom entertainment or something. I am sure he thought of it or was tempted because he had a Bollywood musical number rolling during the end credits.

I think the film could have had much better dialogue tbh, it was a bit trying but Julia Roberts and Nathan Lanes's delivery makes up for some of those shortcomings.

Anyway, I would have recommend the movie for kids to see with parents during the Easter Holiday but I see MariaLionza and jeancomp thoroughly enjoying it, so I guess its one for the ladies to enjoy too...wait, dont tell me, its because the prince had his shirt off, right?

6/10

Well daughter and I didn't think much of this either-- yawn...we were bored and thought Snow White was dreadfully dull. But glad that jeancomp and marialionza enjoyed it. Different strokes and all that.
