I like every single bit of this movie!
How many of us are still looking for the twin flame...
Lovely soundtrack.
I don't want to say any more. If you haven't seen the movie yet go and see it.

Mmmm! Strange film . . . I think I lost the plot & maybe even the will to live!!! At times it did settle on one part of the story and I sort of followed what was happening then . . . it flipped and I got a little lost! :tears:
Not the worst film I've seen but do wish I understood what happened to all the main characters.
Glad I hadn't pa*d!

Ok, spoiler for those who didn't understand it:
According to the medium, the ex-wife of Antoine was the reincarnation of Vanessa Paradis, the mother of the Down Syndrome boy. Laurent was reincarnated as her husband (creepy) and Vero, the Down syndrome girl, as his new girlfriend Rose. That's why she had the disturbing flashbacks, and why she had to let go of him so he could finally be with his true love, something she had so brutally ended in her earlier life. That's what I understood. Not that it made much sense in itself. As her female friend said "Horseshit".
yes, that's the story; if you were not attentive enough when the friend was speaking to the medium, you missed the twist!
(I would not have put words on it though, just rolled the car scene and leave it to the audience to make whatever they want of it)

I loved the script, the editing, the actors (the oldest Antoine was fantastic), the soundtrack, the cinematography... not sure about the twist and the film was a tad too long but I very much enjoyed the ride!

I'm usually ok with subtitles but I admit drifting in and out at what turned out to be the pivotal moment :nono:
So I ended up missing bits of the exchange between the medium and the best friend.

They probably made it confusing on purpose so everyone has to see it again. Either to confirm that they fully understood the film or to catch the bits where they got lost. Therefore, box office sales could be great since people are re-watching it :D

Saw this, as my last free film of three yesterday. Yeah, you read right - 3! that's "Three" baby!! 3!!!

It's a film that's definitely going to get a very mixed reception. How can I be so sure?...Well the first Mrs Preston hated it, but I absolutely loved it. I was getting quite irritated by her leaning across to whisper "this is cr*p, isn't it?" and every ten minutes or so quitely sighing and checking her watch!! :shifty:

It's profound and well observed, yet one of those films that reveals itself quite slowly, until in the end you have all the pieces of the jigsaw and therefore a full understanding of what's been going on.

Shot from the point of view of several main characters, it becomes obvious why each have acted like they have, and shows them employing their public façade to mask their true emotions. In examining their regrets and desires, their fears and feelings of hopelessness we come to understand their true emotions and what each of them have experienced and are hoping for from their own perspective.

There is quite an intricate paranormal physcological sub-plot element to this film which adds a further layer of mystery and charm to this fantastically visual, at times darkly brooding, yet always beautifully shot film.

The soundtrack is awesome. The use of Pink Floyd's - Dark Side of the Moon in particular is inspired, It is used with incredible effect to portray the anguish and sometimes utter helplessness that certain characters are experiencing in their lives.

Vanessa Paradis gives an excellent performance and the two children were just superb. The slender thighed :shifty: blonde girl who played the current girlfriend was a joy to look at 8O :shifty: ...err...I heard someone remark in the foyer.

One minor point - Whoever had done the translation from the French into the English subtitles seemed to employ quite a bit of artistic licence from the accuracy point of view.

As I implied earlier, the film may not be to everyones taste, but if it does hit the spot with you - I think you are really going to love it!

Almost created our own mini "Preston Domestic" at the end. I wanted to stay to check out the credits to see who had done some of the less well known musical tracks, whilst the first Mrs Preston seemed desperately intent for us to escape immediately. Ahoui, C'est la Vie!

My favourite film so far this year (mind still haven't seen that many yet!) but I will give it 9 out of 10. o/

Saw this last night at the Vue in Islington and actually really enjoyed it. I thought that it was beautifully shot, with a great soundtrack and some very touching scenes. However, I think it will really divide audiences into a love/loathe situation. Would quite like to see it again!
