Re: The Raid
I thought it was quiet on here tonight but I've just noticed that The Raid is on, and a lot of people will be watching it. Looking forward to all the reviews, folks!

Re: The Raid
I thought it was quiet too! Hasn't there been screenings of the Raid already?

Not sure, sh. I've been missing in action for a little while, so I'm not up to speed on what's what.superhero wrote:I thought it was quiet too! Hasn't there been screenings of the Raid already?

I think it's the first time it does not clash with any other screening though

Re: The Raid
I think most people saw it last week, but I was at another screening, which was preferable to it. But took my chance to see it today.
Sick.
If you like non-stop fight action, brutal violence, beaten to a pulp and then unbelievably get up to fight again, you will like this. Everyone seems to be karate experts, young, old, tall, short. The sound effects were cruel, you can hear every bullet, every punch, crunch, slice, crash, bang, wallop! Definitely for the men, which in our audience, at Vue Islington tonight, was about 90%. I totally guessed the ending. Must admit, it was very well choreographed, so for that. 3/10
Nice to see a familiar face when I arrived, soonforgotten, and then later ejwrank - thanks for the company!

Re: The Raid
Vue was full of blokes who laughed at the most gruesome bits and applauded at the end. The ones on our row were so important that they had to both check their phones every 5 minutes in case Obama was ringing. They loved the film as much as I hated it.
Glad to meet up with prettyxcool as always.

Re: The Raid
Went to see this at Stratford Westfield Vue, thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Yes it is violent but this what you expect from a martial arts movie. A great soundtrack to compliment the OTT action. It certainly gets the adrenaline going.

Re: The Raid
Saw this tonight at a packed Vue Islington. Again a load of latecomers tonight.
Masses of hype for this film and unfortunately I had high expectations for it. I was a little disappointed with the film.
A heck of a lot of action, gun fight, machete fight, knife fight, fists, kicks,holds...you get what I mean. Action all the way. Bone crunching sounds which made you wince. There was curiously lots of nervous laughing ...I guess to mask the gratuitous violence. A bit similar to the elevator scene in Drive. Some of the violence was insinuated but there was some very graphic stuff as well. This made the tone for the violence a bit inconsistent for me. You got to know the kind of film this was within the first 10 minutes in how the gang boss dealt with his prisoners. It was not good for them.
Plot was predictable and thin but the action was done well.

PS. Definitely not a date film unless your significant other likes UFC or mixed martial arts fighting.
