I really want to see it because of the fab cast that I know from TV shows (Noel Clarke from Doctor Who, Rupert Graves from Sherlock, Lenora Crichlow from Being Human, Bradley James from Merlin, etc) so glad to hear you enjoyed it :D

it is a sporting film aiming to contribute to the olympic build up, to bring on the cheering spirit for team GB. i would warn anyone to avoid the terrible trailer (which i unfortunately didn't do this time) as it gives a lot of the story away. but as marketed as a feel good summer film you can kind of guess where it is going. bring along a flag to wave!

i enjoyed this even tho it was very lite. characters very 2D with a little padding for the star athletes, many cringeworthy lines. probably aimed at a young adult market, i think. Brought one along and he really enjoyed himself.

there is something about friendship for the girls and lots of shots of fit glutes for the lads (no faces - just image after image of the bodies of the other women athletes).

i didn't like the title 'girls'. these were women (one had a husband and child) and due a little more respect.

not silk, smooth cotton.

edit: also don't rush out immediately as credits start. there is a little bit more after a minute or so.

Saw this tonight. Loved it. Was great seeing all the red, white and blue especially after the last few Jubilleeish days.
Good convincing acting from good solid well known actors. Felt goose-bumps near the end even though the outcome was pretty inevitable.

A pretty empty Edinburgh - guess everyone plumped for Friends with Kids.

An easy 7/10

Damn. Never knew to stay through credits. What did I miss?

Watched this at a fairly busy Printworks. Lovely warm story and does get you in the mood for the Olympics, really enjoyed it. What more can I say without giving it away, I even had a tear in my eye at the end - a happy one. 8/10

Aww. Thanks, D.

Was it just me or did Phil Daniels look out-of-proportion? You know - in the way that people look wide and short when a widescreen TV is set to the wrong ratio? Haha. I can't hear him speak without thinking "Parklife!"

This is pretty much what I expected it to be. It is easy viewing. Cheesy, predictable, a few cringeworthy moments, thin characters and very implausible ending but I am sure the target audience will enjoy it. 6.5/10

Loved this! Yes, the ending was cheesy and improbable but I love cheesy feel-good films and this one fell right into that category.

I also have to say that while I normally never watch any sports (whether on TV or in real life), this time around I more than once held my breath during the races shown in this film (even if I knew how it would all end) and I really got into it!

I'm probably giving this a slightly higher rating than it deserves but I was just so glad to finally see something decent again after several weeks of crap films (Prometheus, Iron Sky, LOL).

9/10

This was great fun.

It's no masterpiece and certainly shares a lot with other sports movies, but the performances were great, there's a few laughs, tugs of the heartstrings and you can't help but root for the girls by the end.

I left the cinema in a great mood and everyone else seemed in high spirits as well, a great film to see on a damp, grey June evening.

Well I thought this was pretty ordinary. Everything was signposted miles away so there were absolutely zero surprises. Valda and I were at Islington Vue having our seats kicked from the morons in the back row who found the film absolutely hilarious!
