I love Timur Bekmambetov's visual stylings and the way he uses humour, so hoping Abe Lincoln is another classic from him. Or not a disappointment at least.

I got my wish, it's not a disappointment.
Not much more than that though, firmly in 3 star territory, with a strong lead performance, and character, in Benjamin Walker's Abraham Lincoln.
Visuals are great, smartly subdued to avoid eye-strain in 3D, violence is used well. Just a shame the film loses focus for the sake of general action noise in the final act.

Well, it's out today, so no, don't think so.
They hid it from critics, for some weird messed up reason.

This is a treat for the eyes. The visuals are quite impressive; I liked the gritty and graphic novel-esque style during the action scenes. The 3D is used very well. It was easy viewing but not particularly memorable. 6.5/10.

Not a great film but it does have it's moments. Bekmambetov's usual knack of creating cool looking set pieces and striking visuals is well in evidence here but then so is his inability to combine those with a coherent and fully satisfying narrative.
Benjamin Walker (who looks so much like a young Liam Neeson that he played a young Liam Neeson in his film debut Kinsey) is very good in the lead, making Lincoln a likeable character and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also strong as his wife Mary. The rest of the cast are wasted though and Rufus Sewell makes for an underpowered disappointing villain.
It's a daft but often enjoyable film that doesn't require too much thought.

Oh that's a shame, well at least I won't have to wait to watch it :-) I think I'll have a good read through the reviews before p*ying to see it though, if it doesn't sound like anything special then I may wait and hope for an early DVD release.
