Having seen Senna and enjoyed it immensely, I looked forward to seeing Fastest this afternoon, and also because it was narrated by the gentle tones of Ewan MacGregor. Lovely!

A film really for motorbike racing fans I think, as at the screening in which I won tickets, there were only 8 people present, in the lovely screening room at the Charlotte Street Hotel. The film explores who is the fastest, and starts off quite exciting with the breathtaking final lap of the MotoGP World Championships, with the two lead motorbikers neck and neck. Very skillful how they race and hug the bends of the track tightly, and overtake each other at speeds of over 200mph.

Having no idea of what this sport entails, the film is very interesting, with the behind the scenes interviews, and follows the career of the very charismatic Italian Valentino Rossi, his competitors, his wins and losses, the crashes and the injuries suffered. The camera work was superb bringing you right up close to the racing and the speeds. The bikes were actually really beautiful. However, what could have been a great film, lacked focus for me, it jumped about too much, and it felt far too long with too many sequences with the bikes whizzing round and round the track! 6/10
