The Dark Knight Rises
Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I saw this in Bristol and when we arrived we were told that they had released 600 seats for a 300 seat theatre so had to arrive early however when we went to queue at 6 they first of all said as we had kiss FM tickets we had to wait until all the sky customers had seated before they would let us in but the security guy argued and said just let people in so we went in then. It was about 90% full in the end I think and they had seemed to have saved the top part of the cinema for sky customers but that was fine by me as I like being in the middle towards the front lol. We had an hour of footage and interviews from the red carpet which was cool.
Loved the film. Considering it was so long I thought I would be fed up but I wasnt and the time flew by and I have to be honest it was the first time I have sat through a film in ages without hearing people talk all the way through it.
Great way to end the story I think.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I went to the Wimbledon showing last night, had to leave after about an hour of the film as I was in too much pain (due to a medical condition). Can someone do a "spoiler" & tell me what happens at the end?! I thought the film was ok but nothing spectacular, but I'd like to know how it ends anyway. Thanks :)

believe the hype everyone, its as good as just about all reviews say. great film.
never seen a near 3 hr film which flew by so quick, cant wait to see again tomorrow, it definately seems like TDK, gets better on each viewing.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I am not a fan of superhero movies generally (though there are some I like, such as The Amazing Spider Man, Kick-Ass, Scott Pilgrim vs The World) nor the newer Batman films so I didn't go into this film expecting to love it and unfortunately its nearly 3 hour length dragging on certainly didn't make me change my mind.
I absolutely couldn't stand Bane. I'm not a fan of Tom Hardy anyway and the character was exactly the type of over the top superhero villain that makes me dislike the genre to begin with. I couldn't relate to him whatsoever or understand why he did what he did. Furthermore, the mask was absolutely ridiculous and his speech was muffled.
What I did like: Anne Hathaway (she's gorgeous and she was really amazing as Selena) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (the only character I really cared for in the film and the one I desperately wanted to see more of). However, there was not enough Alfred (Michael Caine was brilliant in the brief scenes he'd been given) or Gary Oldman. I only liked Bruce Wayne when he put on the Batman voice (as it made me think for Community/Danny Pudi) and when he had the long flowy hair in a certain scene
I absolutely loved the ending which makes me up the rating to a reluctant 7/10. If only it'd been an hour shorter...

Anne Hathaway stole the show for me. The score by Hans Zimmer gave me chills,he really out did himself. Really looking forward to a second showing

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I'm just asking here, because I've seen this from different people, but why should the villain be relatable? It's one thing to have a tragic figure, but an effective bad guy shouldn't be someone the viewer "gets". Was The Joker relatable?
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Relatable in a way that even though I don't agree with him I understand where he's coming from and he's not just being bad "because", I find that absolutely pointless and for me personally it's why I commonly don't like the superhero genre. His "story" felt too little too late to me.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
With The Joker, he entertained whilst on screen to the point where you questioned if you should really enjoy his antics, and when he delved into his 'plan' a bit more, as an audience we sort-of understood is viewpoint. A great villain, of course, is the hero had they taken a different path, but a decent enough villain is one we can resonate with, we can understand at least their motivations at points. Bane was far too "I'm big and strong and destroying Gotham just cos".
