I loved this movie, really quite perfect in as far as what it wants to do...

Saw this and I really liked it. Bleak against a back drop of optimism of Obama's presidential election campaign. Things have changed where even the Mob in the 21st century is a very different beast from it's 80s/90s heyday where it cannot stomach people being whacked, becoming more pc , adopting a corporate business attitude and with poor leadership through committees. The cast was great and the dialogue was excellent. A slow burner peppered with moments of extreme violence. A film with something to say though not everyone will agree with it's message.

Saw this tonight at a BAFTA screening. I did not like this, a pretty boring gangster film, the characters are grimy and sweaty. Very dark, very violent, and lots of very long talking scenes, which got a bit tedious and boring and did not go anywhere. I could never to relate to Brad Pitt as an actor, and as a killer in this film, he's just too pretty. There were references to corporate America and the economic crisis, but Pitt's speech near the end was a bit strong! Great cast though. 4/10
When they put the dead bodies in the morgue after Brad blew their brains out, all their heads were in one piece and recognisable, what was that about?
Good cast but I think there was something missing which left me disappointed. Dialogue was ok but I think a little more action and it could have been better. It's a 6/10 from me.

I watched this for a second time the other day. I enjoyed a lot more on a second viewing. First time round I actually thought it was a bit short but I feel like I 'got it' more the second time. Great performances and direction. Very much a cross between Chopper and Assassination of Jesse James in look and feel.
