How did this end up with 7.6 on IMDb? Don't get me wrong, I like my action movies and I understand perfectly well that they require certain amount of cheesy one-liners and action cliches, but this was more like flat-liners and one gigantic predictable plot. You could guess exactly not only what is going to happen but also what is going to be said. Word for word.
I was in a mood for fun good-guy/bad-guy action flick sprinkled with bullets and blood and what I got was just a washed out version of that. I wanted to yell at the Governator that he's not in one of "those" movies, he doesn't have to act like a robot.
If it was not for Rodrigo Santoro (who I never mind looking at) and Johnny Knoxville (crude but at least he got some laughs out of me), this would have been a waste of a Monday afternoon.

I saw this last night at a packed shepherds bush
The sky lady wasn't letting people in without their plus ones so if u had to wait for somebody it had to be outside screen

I went with no expectations of this movie
And was pleasantly surprised.
I really enjoyed it ! Arnie was good too made a few comments about being too old for this which I so true
Some of the action scenes had everyone laughing

I soo want that car 8O
only thing why didn't they just send a missile to blow up the bridge? It would have stopped him right away?!
Film reminded me a of 'swat' very similar story
But not as good as it

8/10 from me. Mainly for comedy factor

Just saw this at the O2 Greenwich - shame had to sit quite near to the screen given all the people at the back had left empty seats here and there (grrr)
Arnie has aged so much! But all in all quite an enjoyable flick...

Because I was off work today we were at the O2 at an insanely early hour. Thought we might arrive for 5.45pm but happened to get there at 5.25pm. You wanna know the funny bit? We weren't the first. We were third. THIRD. When the Sky lady told me this I thought none of those fuckers better be sitting in our seats - thankfully they weren't. The screening then started 15 minutes late of course but I had ZoeBanfield next to me so time quickly passed.

The film was what I expected - a big popcorn action flick that made no sense whatsoever and gave Arnie the opportunity to grunt heroically. But if you don't take it seriously, in some perverse way, you can enjoy it, although it was definitely a bit too gory for me and I wouldn't want to watch it again. And how can you waste Harry Dean Stanton in such a tiny role?

"Obliged." :bwl:

Saw this tonight at O2 Greenwich. These sky screenings are getting more full each time...I swear.

This film reminded me of an 80s action film which I would rent in a video shop after spending 30 mins thinking about it.

The film is an action film that goes by the numbers. Very workman like and could be a little more polished but entertaining and not trying to be anything other that what it is.... an action movie vehicle for an aging star. For me Luiz Guzman stole it. Johnny Knoxville was good too. I was expecting his character to be quite grating after watching him in Jackass. The villains were a bit pantomime and light weight but hey this is an action film and does not require much detail. As long as there are fast cars, crashes, explosions and things being destroyed that's all you need for an action film.

Not many classic Arnie one liners. A few more would have made it better and this would have taken me back to my teenage years.

Do we need an 80s action film in the 2010s. Probably not but on a cold Tuesday evening it was entertaining and worth the visit. Don't expect to be challenged intellectually.

Thanks so much to elski for the tickets to the premiere at Odeon West End tonight. Doors opened at 6pm, so we all queued by the entrance in the bitter cold. Arnie arrived on the red carpet at 6pm and we were allowed in. Of course, everyone tried to hang around Arnie and the security was having a field day ushering everyone along! The red carpet was really short, so no opportunity to hang around as the security pushed as along. As I walked up the red carpet, Arnie turned to walk from one side of the red carpet to the other side, walking right past me, I was too close to take a photo, but my friend who was behind me managed to snap him! The premiere seem quite low key with no posters or boards inside showing that it was a premiere. We were told the screening was downstairs, and on our seats were a bottle of water. Arnie, Johnny Knoxville and Jaime Alexander were introduced and they each said a few words. The sound was quite bad, so wasn't sure what they actually said, but I made out that Arnie won the youngest Mr Universe here and it was "good to be back"! And Jaime said she enjoyed working with Arnie and Johnny.

I loved the film, even though quite cliched, and quite a few violent scenes which I found too brutal. Thought it had everything, very fast paced, great shoot out scenes, funny one liners, great car chase, its fun, and doesn't take itself serious. Exciting and entertaining. Arnie is certainly back, a little rusty, older, but he delivers! Lots of satisfied clapping from the audience when the baddies get brought down. 9/10

I was also at the West End Odeon premiere last night, with 3 friends having won 2 separate competitions for tickets (how bizarre is that!). A bit low key for a premiere, with no obvious celeb presence other than the three cast members mentioned above. But to his credit Arnie gave quite a long speech before the screening, saying all the right things about how he had always loved London (he lived here for a few months in his early bodybuilding days), always insisted on doing premieres here, loved to meet his fans, had kept his promise to BE BACK, etc etc. Jonny Knoxville and Jamie Alexander chipped in with little more than they were pleased to be here and how great it was working with Arnie.

No doubt helped by this intro by the great man himself, the crowd at the screening really seemed to be enjoying the movie, and I have to confess I did too. Pretty typical Arnie stuff, extra heavy on the violence, with a good smattering of intentional comedy, and knowing references to the fact that he really is too old for this shit these days. But personally, I'm glad he's back.

Dave

The last stand - North Finchley - 21st Jan 6pm for the sky screening?

If you are and you see the chap that's in my avatar then that's me so please do say hello , I will be there with a friend so feel feel free to come over and join us in watching the movie ! maybe we can have a little FMUK corner o/

Fortunately I ended up watching this at Shepards bush (had to quickly cancel my finchley tickets and grab the Shepards bush ones which released on the day) which is wayyyy more closer to me than Finchley so was very pleased about that but not as pleased as the movie as it was great seeing Arnie return to movies although he has aged but he does try to acts his age rather than trying to act a lot younger and i appreciated what he achieved , if it was ANY one else other than Arnie in this movie i would have been hating it all the way through, but instead i was loving it , im soo looking forward to more of his movies, i was reading today the Terminator 5 Script should be finished this year and also his movie with Stallone is in the pipeline too, cant wait !

Arnie you said you would be back and you are back so welcome back ! o/

I have finally figured out where I know Peter Stormare from, the leader of the bridge-building gang. I was scrolling down his impressively long filmography but just went "Not seen", "don't know", nor remembered him from Big Lebowski or Fargo, but then up came "Serge Muscat - Chocolat". But of course! o/
