Make that two.

I'm baffled by all the fuss and praise this has received.
It's good to have your own opinion and never give into peer pressure as then you are not being true to yourself. I love reading everyone's views and over time you get an idea of who has similar tastes to yourself so keep it up stuartboy and yogi. o/ I went on a course last year and I was the only one out of 50 candidates who found not only the speaker but the topic interesting

We all have different tastes, that's what makes the world such an interesting place.

When we went on that bloggers workshop, the advice from the journalists was that it didn't matter how many stars you gave a film, as long as you believed in that rating and could justify yourself. I think that's fair enough.

OH saw a play last - summer? - which I thoroughly hated and he thought was a 5 star piece! We had to agree to disagree on that one...

Always good to have a variety of opinions. Some FMUKers (you know who you are!!) used to start their reviews by saying "I know that ejwrank hated this...." before I had even left my comments! Stick to your guns, I say.

I do love this film but I've never thought of it as a comedy as such. It contains some comedic moments verging on the absurd at times but it is hardly in the same comedic realm as I Give It a Year or Bridesmaids.

It contains some strong performances and it was great that Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar, truly deserved. She has a fine future ahead of her.

Saw this at the BAFTA tour screening at Shaftesbury Avenue tonight, and again people were coming in late, 10-15 minutes, but why so noisy? Still talking and everyone is shushing them and still they continued to talk for another minute or so! The screening was packed. Even though I was early, I was beaten to my fave seats, and could not believe they took four seats between the two of them, but later they had to remove their coats when all the seats were taken!

Brisk, punchy, witty and funny, I really enjoyed this. Great cast, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence (still so young), loved the parents, Jacki Weaver and DeNiro, his friend from the hospital, Chris Tucker, and his friend outside, all very likeable characters. A very original, and totally different kind of romantic comedy. 8/10

I went to see this at a very full Glasgow screening having forgotten I'd already seen it! That probably says it all! It was fine seeing it again tho. Quite a few funny one liners and Cooper was very good in his part. No real surprises but a decent enough movie although I would suggest that seeing it once would be enough! 5/10

i also saw this on the bafta ticket.

i really enjoyed the beginning as i know a family member who, if they ever were classified, might be bipolar. that intensity and toe curling honesty. that focus that leaves them unable to talk about other topics. i think it even teared up at one point.

then, as other posters have pointed out the final act is a joyous rom-com,
and they live happily ever after without the meds. i don't think so.
and JL got an oscar as best leading actress for this. really? competition not tough this year then. i actually think BC was far better then her, but that's not saying much. good but not great.

i will recommend this to friends, though. it is a nice start to a discussion on living with mental health issues.

7/10. could have scored a lot higher with a more complex ending to match the beginning.
