Good Vibrations
Re: Good Vibrations
I went in with few expectations and was found this film quite surprising and very glad I went. I know next to nothing about punk in the UK during this time as we were living abroad where punk simply did not happen so it was good to learn a bit about the whole thing and I'm now imaging Bevvy in pogoing in her bondage trousers!
A good number of FMUKers turned out in spite of the miserable weather and glad to have the company of tsoiboy, pxc and her OH as well as spotting Cliveas, bevvy, Livi88 and Greece from afar!

Re: Good Vibrations
What a brilliant film! So much more than I expected it to be, this little gem has everything and is really uplifting and totally feelgood. Most of our rather small audience stuck around to watch until the last riveting credit - worth it for the music and photos alone.
Stark reminder of the horrors of those times with original footage, but interlaced with a great story, characters you care about and a superb soundtrack, directed beautifully.
I recommend you go and check this out - would be a shame to miss it. Top marks!

Re: Good Vibrations
Went to the Telegraph screening at the Courthouse Hotel, and it was packed. Lovely to catch up with tsoiboy and ejwrank, nice to see bevvy, cliveas, greece and livi92 too.
Enjoyed this, another film inspired by real events. It is very upbeat, even though based during the "Troubles" in Belfast. Loved the scene when they were stopped by soldiers on the way back from a gig, when the soldiers questioned where they were from, it transpired that they were Protestants and Catholics gigging together, Terri, replied innocently, "I didn't think to ask".
It shows the power of music, and does not matter what religion you are. Loved the soundtrack, was tapping along. Terri Hooley must be the worst business man ever, but he obviously was not trying to make money, but just lives for the music. 8/10

Here's my review - I absolutely loved it. Some of the scenes involving Teenage Kicks sent shivers down my spine at the sheer power of the song. A slice of amazing modern history I knew nothing about. I really hope this film does well, it deserves a big audience.

By the way, in your review where you say "Terri bemusedly responds “What?! F**k off!”", I think it's the kid (not Terri) who says "F**k Off?" as he's asking for the Wayne County & The Electric Chairs single of the same name...

Re: Good Vibrations
I quite enjoyed this movie, specially because I had heard of Terri H. But not as much, so it was very informative and that is a plus from me however this isnt a movie I would probably go to the finema for, as I like action, horror and zombie movies or anything that is in 3D

This is on BBC2 tonight at 10.30, well worth catching up with or rewatching
