Someone explained it to me once (which is why I am so keen to get my members tickets for this). They have an allocation for members and one for SFF or whoever else is providing the tickets and they guarantee members seats until about 11.15am which is when the trailers end. We had a very full screening and an influx of latecomers just before the film started which makes me think they might have been SFF members they allowed in after members had not turned up. But if you turn up early, you ought to be let in as they cannot reserve the whole screening just for members and they should know their respective allocations.
I do not doubt you, but have seen no evidence of this at Greenwich Picturehouse.

5/10 I found it average, slow, although my friend liked it as was more into it and realized the film was somewhat about the power of women on men...

The manager at The Gate explained the system to me once - which is why I've never gone to a shared members/Guardian screening there since.

Not only do they hold seats for members until 11.15, but SFF aren't allowed in after 11.

It's just not worth the journey for me anymore. You can have a SFF ticket and be turned away, even with empty seats in the screen.

I'm looking forward to seeing this tomorrow. Its a bit annoying as I'm a Picturehouse member, but Notting Hill doesn't seem to put on Sunday members screenings very often
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

I was at Hackney P'house for this and there was no segregation of members and SFF tickets but it was full and I saw one man standing on the stairs which must have been exhausting. I liked the film and thought it was well acted and held my attention. Possibly it was a bit too long (but I often think that) but I am recommending it to others in the family who had other engagements this morning.

He had a seat (a row or two from the front) but for some reason decided standing on the stairs (for the majority of the film's running time) was the preferable option  ...

Usually the SFF tickets become available before the members tickets (for Greenwich you only get them the Friday before!) but that shouldn't affect the allocation which I thought is fixed - we know though that SFF always overbook, I don't know if PH do the same. So I usually get an SFF ticket before just to be on the safe side but always try for a member ticket as I've been made aware of the seat guarantee. If you're early at Greenwich, you'll get in, but if they see that they might run out of seats for members who haven't turned up yet, I guess then they'll refuse entry. They don't usher members to the front but it sort of happens automatically as you go straight to the screen with your printout instead of having to queue up at the till to exchange it. Obviously different Picturehouses might handle this differently. At Greenwich the usual screen for previews is screen 2 which is the second largest, and that was full today.

Btw, was I the only one who thought it was freezing cold there today?

And, to come back to the film, can someone explain to me why the houseboat had to be dismantled by law when the mother moved out? Didn't quite catch the reason for that, their accents were sometimes a bit thick.

Still not sure whether I liked this. It was well-acted and was diverting for a Sunday morning screening but did feel rather long and lacked a narrative push. 6.5/10.
