Well this was pretty much as good as I'd hoped it would be, the opening sequence wasn't anything special but once we got past that it just got better & better (IMO anyway ;) ).

I liked very much how they played with storyline & dialogue elements from 'Wrath Of Khan' and the overall vibe was a lot closer to the original tv show than it was in the previous flick.

I didn't think the 3D effects added anything to this movie but they didn't get in the way of me enjoying it either so all in all this gets a very decent 8/10 from me...

The 3D wasn't brilliant, but the rest was. So many nods to fans of the original - and I thought they got the balance right between emulating the original bridge crew and being different characters.

Best film of 2013 so far for me. o/

I actually liked the 3D, but I'm weird when it comes to 3D, so its maybe just me.

Saw this tonight at the O2 with missgotty. Somehow we really lucked out and managed to get front of the balcony just off center. Fantastic film through and through. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. I was really worried I would have hyped it up so much and been disappointed but luckily not! I'm going to go out on a limb and say best film I've seen all year thus far.

And Benedict Cumberbatch is surely a demigod?

Saw this last night at the O2 thanks to caitlinmorton. Seated at the front of the balcony but still a good view. Guessed they'd be a lot of FMUKers, shame we couldn't put names to faces. Apparently we all have long, short and no hair lol :D

As for the film I loved it. It was funny throughout, I cracked up at the nods to the original especially the Doctor with his one liners. Even shed a small tear when Spok and Kirk had their moment at the end. First time I've seen Benedict in action (I know) and he made a brilliant villain. Easily the best film I've seen to date, 9/10.

Saw this last night at Glasgow Renfrew Street, saw yinster and her posse :p Very surprised to see cinema wasn't completely full, I loved the 3D as did my own little posse ha! i thought the 3D worked really well and the film wasn't darkened as a result unlike when they completely ruined POTC, the film was fantastic, really a great big screen experience 9/10

Saw this Yesterday in Wandsworth. In a word - spectacular. I thoroughly enjoyed the first one and I am pleased to say that I enjoyed the sequel just as much. Pure unadulterated escapism. There was plenty of humour and "in" jokes familiar to fans of the original Star Trek series, very imaginative CGI, and the 3D was excellent and I didn't find the 3D gratuitous, in fact it made me feel like I was a crew member! My recommendation - set your co-ordinates for your nearest cinema and engage...

Can't wait for the next one. 9/10 from me (would have given another point but the Klingons were a bit one-dimensional).

This was simply fantastic. Cumberbatch was a much better baddie than I expected him to be (though lol at him "buffing up" for the role by eating 4000 calories a day, he was still super skinny), Pegg was hilarious (yay for more Scotty screen time!) and Pine and Quinto were brilliant as ever (oh how I've missed seeing Quinto's face - even with the Spockbrows).

The dialogue was witty and funny (loved all the Kirk/Spock banter, of course, especially regarding Spock's relationship with Uhura). And I didn't mind the 3D for once. Not much came out of the screen I found but it did make the images more crisp and really gave the feeling the audience was right there on the Enterprise with the crew.

Having said that, this film didn't quite reach the level of awesomeness as the first film did because:
- There were many overly predictive storylines (such as the tribble conveniently coming back to life in front of Bones just as Kirk passed away. Spock not really dying. And Kirk not really dying).
- Kirk and Spock still didn't make out (I mean, come one, Spock didn't cry when he nearly died and had to lose Uhura, but he DID die when Kirk "died" </3).
- Needs moar lensflare, lolz
My favourite film of the year so far. 9.5/10

fck dat!

Regarding the 3D, it seems to me that people who did not have problems were seating bang on mid screen. We had the misfortune to sit bottom section, right hand side. Not a single crisp frame and mostly ghosting on the left hand side of the screen :(
