Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa

#1 Post by yogi » Fri Aug 02, 2013 9:02 am

I couldn't find a thread for this, can't wait to see it.

Shame there's no free previews, but reckon it will be well worth a voucher - I'd even p*y!!! 8O

Never seen an Alan Partridge before so had no idea what to expect.

Absolute nonsense and over the top, but some funny bits, the wit is fast and furious, that it took me some time to adjust to it. 7/10

Lovely to see cliveas, davewatts01, ejwrank and hubby, saw shmile come in but didn't catch her eye. Quite a lot of empty seats at the Courthouse Hotel for the Telegraph screening. The director, Declan, did a short Q&A before the film started. It was originally 2 hours and 45 minutes which they cut down to 90 minutes. The cut outs will be on the DVD.

Have to agree. The wit was very fast. And missed quite a few gags.
The couple sitting next to me were laughing so much throughout. I didn't find that funny but it was funny

Last 30mins was def the best as well and so funny
For me Colm meaney made the film(I know it's supposed to be Alan partridge). And without him. Would have been very dry.
funniest part was when he was hiding in the loo
6.5/10. But would only really recommend if u are a Alan partridge fan

Sorry, June forgot to mention lovely to see you too, but although you looked familiar, have you changed your hair colour? And you had tied it up as well.

My friends were laughing at everything, even when it was not funny, but they said they were on a roll and could not stop!

I thought that too, and when they were running around on the pier
and when the gun bounced off and fired at Alan - I had expected it to fire at Pat
I was rather nervous for this film as small screen comedy transfers to the big screen don't have a great record. When I go to see a film I obviously want it to be good so that I enjoy it, but in this case also really wanted it to be good so that it didn't tarnish the ledgend that is AP.

It was (necessarily) more story based and less character based than all the TV series. So it was not classic AP, but definitely funny enough and true enough to the character to be a worthy addition; there were constant laughs out loud from our group as well.

And it's so refreshing to see a comedy film that doesn't build up and underline the gags, but just throws them out there. You either get them or you don't and it moves on to the next one. Full of really funny moments, it's difficult to pick a favourite(s) but I also really enjoyed the end segment
from when they got in the van onwards and particularly loved the shooting of JFK!
Hilarious, A-Ha!

Have been asked to rate this film, something I do not normally do; and have given it 4 stars.
