As always very impressed with Cate Blanchett - she was annoying, beautiful, ugly, charming, naive, disillusioned, delusional all in less than two hours and she was convincing to a point of me wanting to just slap her out of it all.
But it wasn't just her. I thought the casting throughout was fantastic and the story told just right.

I agree Cate Blanchett and all the cast were fantastic, but it didn't really do much for me. Great to see Bobby Cannavale again, enjoy him in everything he does.

But even at just over 90 minutes the story felt slight and stretched out, odd considering Alec Baldwin's character's story.

The same arguments kept happening and there was probably at least 20 minutes of pill popping and vodka drinking!

Some great moments, especially the brilliant scene with Jasmine and the 2 boys in the diner, but ultimately for me an ok film about a shallow and uninteresting character. 6/10

Saw this and was expecting it to pan out differently. Every plot I figured out ended differently!!! Just as well I don't make films. Okay film but not one I will remember other than for cate who will def get a nomination

The only disconcerting thing was wondering if McG was going to launch herself at the woman sitting next to her and force her to use a box of tissues! 7/10

I certainly did consider offering her a tissue! I think that's the mum/teacher in me!

I'm just thankful she didn't put her feet on the chair!

This is definitely one of my top 10 favourites of the year so far- funny, sad, well-cast and Allen's best film in years. Cate Blanchett was great in the lead role and Bobby Cannavale was as watchable as he is in Boardwalk Empire. 9/10

Went to see this earlier today and although I thought it was much better than 'To Rome With Love' I didn't like it nearly as much as I liked 'Paris In Midnight' & 'Vicky Christina Barcelona'.

I think my main issue with this film was that despite a brilliant performance by Cate Blanchett, I couldn't empathise with the central character. I didn't hate her or find her unsympathetic but I couldn't bring myself to root for her either.

I really liked the twist (which I didn't see coming) but found the final scene to be too vague & open ended and consequently left the screening feeling slightly disappointed.

However, this was still a solid and above average drama so it more than deserves a 7/10 from me...

Saw this yesterday and agree that it's the best thing Woody Allen has done of late, though not necessarily up to his earlier standard with family dramas. Cate Blanchett was excellent but I couldn't see the point of casting Sally Hawkins (so both female leads playing Americans when they aren't) as Ginger. I'm not saying she wasn't good, though obviously the focus was on Cate Blanchett, simply why Sally Hawkins? I didn't like Jasmine's smooth and suspiciously readily available suitor, either - at least Ginger's was more convincing. It'd be nice to see Alec Baldwin doing something different for a change, too.

Woody, you are back on form! I was surprised how entranced I was watching this. A very strong supporting cast but Blanchett was simply mesmerising, covering so many different facets of Jasmine's personality. 8.5/10.
