Although I liked The Hunger Games, I thought it lost it's way as soon as the games began, becoming a watered down less interesting version of Battle Royale.

I think the sequel (which I saw earlier today) is much more consistent quality wise & therefore represents an improvement over the first film. I will say the abruptness of the final five or so minutes really didn't work for me so this still ended up being a far from perfect viewing experience.

However, there was much to appreciate and it held my attention throughout so overall it did just enough to get a respectable 8/10 from me...

I went to see this again at the BFI IMAX (man I love that cinema) and think I enjoyed it even more on repeat viewing. The last hour in the arena was especially entertaining to watch on such a giant screen. It holds it 9/10 rating from me.

To put it into relatability RAZOR, this is EXACTLY how it happens in the book. The last chapter is such a rush with lots of new revelations then the bombshell is dropped and we had to read mockingjay to find out what the hell happened.

I finally saw this and thought it was quite good. Didn't surpass expectations but it didn't disappoint either. I haven't read the books but I did think some of the "revelations" were pretty obvious from the beginning, so wasn't that shocked by the end. I agree about the abruptness of the last five minutes though - I wondered whether I'd fallen asleep for half an hour and missed a whole chunk!

are there revelations in the 3rd book?

I am unsure if I should read it. It would be nice to read one of the books at least.

agreed.

its common knowledge that 99.9999% of THG fandom act as if the 3rd book never existed.
