How To Train Your Dragon 2

Thank you so much to elski for taking me along to the Gala Screening this morning at Vue West End where it turns out that there were four screenings today (there may be more which I do not know about!), and we were lucky enough to see the screening with America Ferrera, and with the author, Cressida Cowell, and the Director, Dean DeBlois present. We were also given breakfast, loads of croissants (peach, chocolate etc), little cookies in the shape of Toothless, choc muffins, cup cakes, and hot and cold drinks. There were the usual face painting and blue screen.

On our seats were a copy of How to Train Your Dragon (gosh, there are 9 books in the series), popcorn and water.

I do not know if it was the 3-D glasses that fitted me perfectly for a change (took the kiddies size!) that made the 3D for me so excellent or it was was just excellent anyway! These were special Dragon 2 3-D glasses, more solid, with a black and red frame.

Wow, what a treat. Visually stunning, beautifully animated, coming of age classic. Definitely needs a second viewing! 10/10

After the film caught up with Cressida Cowell and got her to sign my book and also got a photo with her! What a splendid Sunday morning! Worth getting up early for.

Yep great film, saw it last week at the IMAX waterloo. Some of the most impressive animation i've seen, bound to be a box office hit!

I didn't love the first film (thought it was just okay) and felt there wasn't an improvement with this one. Yes, visually it looks very appealing but the story and characters just don't do it for me (I actually dozed off a few times...). A reluctant 5.5/10, mainly for the cakes and green screen.

I thought it was very good, but not quite as good as the excellent original. Nice screening though, my nephew really appreciated the free book!

Beautiful animation but not much of a story and not enough humour. But lovely comfortable 3D glasses for a change!

The story was a bit so-so but the visuals were wonderful to look at and I enjoyed trying to identify all the famous voices. I wouldn't rush to watch it again though. 7/10.

Really enjoyed the first film & thought this one was just as good.

Was relieved that they maintained the slightly darker than the average kid's movie vibe from the original so this gets a high 8/10 from me ...

Saw this today and I absolutely LOVED it.

Im not sure how they managed to make Toothless even more amazing than he already was in the first film but they managed it!
I loved cloudjumper, I loved skullcrusher, I loved the Bewilderbeast.
It was slightly darker but they did still get a few laughs in and it still didnt stop me from heading to waterstones b*ying three mini figures(cloudjumper,skullcrusher and toothless(the whole family! ^_^) and the next httyd book :)
And the BF did the same and even got the toothless teddy I got pre-film
I think Ive started a new obsession in him haha
