Caught this at a preview this afternoon and loved it. Feel good film of the summer so far. It's cheesy and has its faults however it is highly entertaining and thoroughly enjoyable.
Kiera Knightley's not that bad a singer and she's certainly better than everyone in Walking On Sunshine.
Those that are going to see it tomorrow night should be in for a treat.
8/10
I'll post a full review just prior to its release.

Caught this at a preview tonight as well and I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by Keira Knightley's singing voice too, though she was nothing compared to Adam Levine, of course.
I absolutely loved this film! Didn't think it was cheesy at all, but it did have that feel-good factor that made me leave the screening room feeling all happy and smiley. I really liked the unique settings for the recordings and thought the entire cast was excellent, from James Corden and Mark Ruffalo to Hailee Steinfeld and Catherine Keener.
One of my top films of the year so far. 9/10

Pleased that we're in agreement. Certainly the best film I've seen for some time. Loved it. The only thing that was poor was Adam Levines beard, for one moment I thought that it was going to fall off.

A very pleasant surprise. It had touches of pathos and comedy yet still with an authentic story without too many cliches. The music felt quite raw and natural and Keira Knightley was not as annoying as I expected her to be. 8/10.

Saw this yesterday in Wimbledon. There were some nice shots of New York – but the film ended up being just mediocre. Mark Ruffalo played a recently separated, heavy-drinking, unshaven music producer and Keira Knightley played his muse – an unsigned singer/songwriter. The acting was unremarkable with both lead characters playing exactly the sort of roles we have seen many times before. Think both should try to break out of their comfort zones. There was a lot of singing from Keira, which at first I thought had to be someone else who had over-dubbed here. But I very quickly realised that the singing wasn’t all that great – so it was actually her singing. None of the songs was particularly memorable – obviously I wasn’t able to see the great talent that Mark Ruffalo’s character spotted. All in all – mediocre. One to watch on Netflix on a rainy afternoon. 5/10

Can only report on first 45 minutes.....see below.
Didn't really manage to engage with this film. It wasn't particular amusing nor clever, and very little seemed to happen. Opinions do chage throughout a film so I'm not going to pass judgement. I'm bloody well counting it towards my total though! Ha.
Humph!
Arrived at Vue cinema tonight for Begin Again, having left an extra half an hour early due to hearing about unusual traffic problems - Queen's Garden Party (and X-Factor auditions!) in town which was gridlocked, only to arrive just before the film started. Went into cinema which was particularly dark after the bright sunshine outside, and eventually located several single seats only when asking to be told that they were being saved - "for my wife who has still to come" etc. I thus stood against a side wall and watched first half hour of film. I then decided to go and report the issue and perhaps see something else instead only to be told that I wouldn't be allowed to watch anything else "for free". I thus went back in and resumed by standing only then after 45 minutes of the film to be approached and asked to leave as it was not permissable to stand. I could see the point if I was sitting on the steps and thus blocking a fire exit etc.
I remonstrated with the usher outside who agreed that it was not fair as they knew I had arrived in time and that other had arrived after me (to take the saved seats). It clearly says no seat saving on the ticket.
I asked for a manager who refused to allow me into anything else. Eh? What? It would have been a common courtesy and cost them nothing at all. Deplorable customer service.

Cineworld Unlimited is cheating! ;-)

That will be because it is not trying to be romantic comedy

It is considered a comedy drama.
