Re: Mad Max: Fury Road
Mad Max 1 in comparison to Fury Road is like American Graffiti to Star Wars, they're literally worlds apart.

So disappointed in this, Theron is good, rest poor. I normally like Hardy but not in this. After the reviews was expecting a lot more, its just a plain weird arty movie, not for me, and I could see general public disliking this one. 2/5.
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife
Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

The general public seem to love it although it didn't appeal to me.tonethestone wrote:So disappointed in this, Theron is good, rest poor. I normally like Hardy but not in this. Re: Mad Max: Fury Road
loved it 4th time round, but I agree you need to kind of b*y into Miller's weird style of filmmaking to really enjoy it fully, else the odd way they talk can be a bit off putting eventually.
I think the guitar player might have been Bruce Spence (gyro man from the previous 2 movies).

Nope. That was a singer/songwriter named Iota (The Doof Warrior in the movie):raj101 wrote:I think the guitar player might have been Bruce Spence (gyro man from the previous 2 movies).

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road
If you are wavering on whether to see this or not, my response would be if you like the idea of a 2 hour full on assault on your senses, then this is for you. Throughout the entire film I was waiting for a break in the action, but that never really happened and the time passed very quickly. There is a story, but if you are after something very deep and meaningful or looking for lots of Shakespearian prose, this may not be for you.
I went in thinking it would be worth a watch, but not much more, however I came out with a far better view and can see why it is rated so highly by movie fans and critics alike. The acting is very good, the CGI is also good, but not too over the top in my view. Also the 3D is well done, more about depth and detail, which is the best way to film 3D.
So if you fancy having your brain exploded in a fun way, this is for you, otherwise best put the cocoa on and have a quite night in;-)

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road
I echo this. After all the hype I was expecting a lot more but the whole movie was basically just an extended car chase sequence. Some elements were impressive and artistically shot but unfortunately became tiresome very quickly since it was the same thing over and over again. The whole thing felt aimless and a tenuous plot was stretched far too thin. 5/10.TheBoySeggy wrote:1st hater reporting for duty!Jayman wrote:despite the 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes, I can definitely see a lot of people hating it.
There's barely even a thread of a plot, the dialogue is almost completely incoherent
Let me first say, as good as Tom Hardy was, he played 2nd fiddle to Charlize Theron & Nicholas Hoult, who were both incredible.
The film... not so much. It was... Ok. It reminded me of one of the more audacious & ludicrous Top Gear challenges. I half expected Jeremy Clarkson to pop up yelling "MORE POWER!!!!" & James May to mumble "oh cock" whenever they had issues.
It wasn't terrible, it just seemed pointless. The chases were fun, but got boring & repetitive very quickly. I'm convinced that my Haribo Tangfastic induced sugar rush is what kept me awake for the entire film. My friend didn't have as much sugar as me, and did fall asleep.
5/10

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road
I had no interest in seeing this until I read that some people were complaining it was too feminist. I'd seen the other Mad Maxes and thought they were ok, but I really enjoyed this one. I was a bit disappointed that it seemed a bit less Australian (something that always made these movies interesting in an overly American market), but I really enjoyed the acting and I thought it dealt with human trafficking in a very thoughtful way, while still being a good action movie.
