CHiPs: Law and Disorder

#1 Post by stuartboy » Thu Mar 23, 2017 12:18 am

Absolutely dire.
Painful to watch. This had the very nerve to state "Based on TV series" in opening credits. Only relationship to the original TV show is the two characters' names. How on earth does a TV cop show suddenly become a comedy? That said it wasn't even funny (if that makes sense).
Jon Baker reminded me of a young Dr Christian off Embarrassing Bodies.

I saw a preview at Warner Bros Studios, but had to sign an embargo form at the time.

Did not expect much, but actually quite enjoyed it, much better than I thought, a bit of light entertainment! Generic humour with some hilarity, but again too much repetitive "dick" and "toilet" jokes. Some quite good stunts with the bike riding, which added some suspense. A cameo right at the end with one of the original CHiPs.

The embargo we signed was so that we couldn't warn people how crap this film is, so as to not waste their money on tickets.

Chips has this really outdated humour vibe, I really wanted it to be funny but it was just sad and disappointing. The story-line was totally predictable throughout and it had no substance whatsoever. Even Michael Pena couldn't deliver with the lines he was given, he usually has reliable comedic value especially in light of War on Everyone. Sadly the best thing about Chips is Dax Sheppard's extremely hunky body!

They seemed quite desperate to get people into preview screenings. I didn't realise I had won tickets for when I was away. I got an email telling me I had won and replied that I couldnt make it as I had my dates mixed up. Heard nothing back, then I had someone from warner bros find me on facebook telling my tickets where still available for the chips preview and I could pass the invite on to friends as I wanted? I was in Switzerland!

That's unusual as normally they say tickets are none transferable.
