Saw Heartbreaker last night and thought it was the best Rom Com I have seen in a long time.

Was noy to sure of it being subtitled at first but it did not subtract from the enjoyment

Thanks kevinknapman you reminded me that I had seen Julie Ferrier in MicMacs

I really enjoyed her and Francois Damiens acting. Agree that Romain Durais (Alex) was excellent and Vanessa Paradis looked good together. Yes, it was always going to have the happy ending etc. but I really enjoyed it, even OH said he liked it. LIKE is quite a strong word for him!
For me, the subtitles were not a problem, I would prefer them to having the film dubbed.

The Dirty Dancing scene was terrific - asked OH if he would try this with me. Cannot describe the look he gave, basically the answer was no.

9/10

Saw this at WIQ. Agree with everything that has been said here. I love French films so subtitles does not bother me. Totally entertaining and lovely rom-com. I didn't mind which way the story went, I like Andrew Lincoln too. Enjoyed Alex's sister and her husband's double act, very funny. 8/10

I had no idea it was in subtitles but that didn’t stop me enjoying it.

Saw Heatbreaker at Brixton Ritzy this morning.

Room was full!

I did not know what to expect from the movie but I can say I absolutely loved it and would happily watch it again!

The French always manage to add a touch of quirkiness in their films and this was no different! :D Great characters, well rounded and entertaining! I loved his Sister and Husband's comical duo's.

Subtitles do not bother be since I tend to watch foreign films anyway.

Happy, Uplifting and entertained me all the way

10/10 from me!

I saw this at the Ritzy this morning too. Very well made and good characters, very enjoyable to watch and not overly sappy (my biggest fear with romcoms!), would definitely recommend.

Apparently Working Title have already b*ght the rights for a remake. Which is really odd considering the push they are giving the original both here and in the US. There is a really good article in the Times Culture magazine today about the film and it's success.

I hate it when they do remakes of French films. The original French Three Men and a Baby was so much better than the American remake!

Yeah me too. Quite similar to their remake of Quarantine.

9/10 from me and 6/10 from bf as he isn't a fan of subtitled films. You'd think that he'd be used to them by now considering that we've watched so many since we've been together (check out Angel-A and Melena - just a couple of my faves). Oh well - I really enjoyed it and particularly loved the hilarious and highly adaptable sister and aspiring actor brother-in-law [ thought Melanie looked familiar but couldn't quite place her (duh...Micmacs)].
