The Switch
Re: The Switch
Saw this last night. My expectations beforehand weren't too high but it wasn't too bad. One or two genuinely funny moments in it.

Re: The Switch
Saw this film last night at Wimbledon. Thought it was good but I felt that the story would've suited a film with more comedy better. This film was too serious to make the story believable. Still enjoyable and worth a watch though.

ahhhh, lovefilm is always weird. It's like when they post a comp for premiere tickets that says it ends a couple of days after the actual premiere date!

Re: The Switch
I wasn’t really expecting very much from this film due to some of the pretty negative reviews I'd read. So part way through when I was finding it on the acceptable side of OKish I was pleasantly surprised.
It's yet another film set in New York - I've seen so much of "The Big Apple" recently that I sometimes think I could find my way around there easier than I do in my own home town.
I must admit to having a really strong "Friends" aversion, as my daughters seem to watch an unhealthy amount of this drivel at seemingly all hours of the day.
It may have been because of this fact that I wasn't overly impressed with Jennifer Aniston's acting (to me she was still just being Rachel), but to be fair to her she didn't seem to have a lot to work with in the script department.
The great thing about this film is the portrayal of Ms Aniston's son Sebastian by child actor Thomas Robinson. He gives a first rate, and at times very humorous and touching, performance which was probably helped along by some first rate direction.
This and the developing relationship that we see between Sebastian and Jason Bateman's character Wally is what made the film for me. The way in which they supported each other through their own various adversities was really appealing.
There were good performances too from Patrick Wilson and Jeff Goldblum, as Roland and Leonard, and these helped to bolster the films shortcomings somewhat. In all it was a disappointingly predictable storyline though and I thought the chemistry between Jason Bateman (Wally) and Jennifer Aniston (Kassie) never rose above "just good friends" status, making the conclusion a tad unbelievable in my book.
A slightly flawed film overall then but with some very enjoyable aspects, so 7 out of 10 from me for this.
And having checked it out yesterday, I will be happily going along with my daughters to see it again next week.

Saw this film last night at Silverlink. I found it enjoyable, but not very funny. The little boy was good. It did drag a little in the middle and my husband couldn't stop looking at his watch.
