Re: Devil , wrote by M. Night Shyamalan
I liked The Village and Lady in the Water a lot but didn't think much of Signs or The Happening. I missed The Last Airbender screening but will watch it at some point because M.N.S.'s films are generally worth a look at least. However, the TV trailer for The Devil has certainly put me off (you even see a flash of the "devil" at one point) and it says "from the mind of ..." so I'm assuming it isn't one of his films proper?

Im happy to say I did enjoy it! Ill be honest and say its definitely not his best work but it kept me interested. Based around an 'old wife's tale' which was a good starting point, i do think more could have been done with it though, as usual with m.night some things are predictable. wouldnt p*y for it, possible xmas gift list but im not b*ying it
6/10

I wasn’t really expecting to enjoy this at all, having rarely seen a horror film in recent times that I actually thought was up to much.
I did enjoy this one though. It was quite a slow building tense little film and had quite a few jump in shock moments. A couple of twists along the way too.
A credible 6 out of 10.

Again 6/10, only got round to seeing it yesturday. It will leave you with an incredible suspenseful feeling throughout 80% of the film...until the cop out ending
Re: Devil , wrote by M. Night Shyamalan
I wonder if this movie was secretly financed by the Vatican, as the Catholic "confess / repent your sins and you won't go to hell" message is hammered into your brain without much subtlety.
This could have been far more interesting, only went 'cause it was free... 4/10
One thing though, getting into lifts will be a different experience for a while..

Hmmn from the trailer I thought this was gonna be scary but it isn't. the only thing giving me chills was the bloody air con at boldon! there was a lot of uh-oh I bet they're the next to get it moments, but I still liked it. the so called shocking reveal of who was the baddie was spoilt somewhat by a gang of teenage girls laughing but hey ho erm, 6/10 from me.

in the age of anti-religion, its odd to find films like Devil and Legion (although my personal take on God is, why not believe, theres no harm as long as you are sensible).
Devil was intersting, with a fantastic premise and story. The actual deliver in the flesh was something less, but nevertheless an entertaining flick.
As with all Night stories, to take it seriously it requires a rather massive suspension of belief (or rather, a large amount of belief in the Devil and religion in tihs case). Night rarely gives you background into his story's mythologies, its almost as if he expects you to readily accept whatever hocuspocus he puts in front of you -which isnt always easy to deal with. But in this case, the slow build up whodunnit, dark skies and 'Silence of the Lambs'sque ominous soundtrack works well.
I await the next instalments with interest.
