Good to hear this you're giving this positive reviews, seems an interesting premise, but was worried it may be another Phone Booth which was only 70-80% of a good film.

I have some Odeon vouchers to use, at the moment I'm thinking I may either see this, Winter's Bone or The Town. As most of my films are free it seems a massive decision to actual p*rchase tickets!! Even using vouchers.

On a side note, congratulations Beate on reaching 100 films, I was looking back at my past films and last week I think I reached 100 in total, since my first free film in late 2007!!!

OMG! you've reminded me about a couple of odeon vouchers that are expiring at the end of the month!!! Thanks yogi!! I don't think I could watch this kind of movie. I think I have a fear of being buried alive that stems from a vincent price hammer horror I watched when I was a teenager

I definitely in the minority here, I thought this film was a big con and a gimmick, "Hey lets make a whole film about a guy in a coffin". This is coming from someone who likes high concept films. It's difficult, there are bits in the film I like alot, but there are ones which are just tedious. The idea just doesn't stretch into a full length feature film, so all we get is lets light the coffin, lets make a call, lets light the coffin again, hey lets make another call ad infinitum. I am curious what the actual budget was for this film...? I know the director is going to a Q&A at the Curzon Soho on Wednesday, I would have a few questions for him. I do like his direction though, I thought he's got potential, it's the idea of the film that I have a problem with. Also the cinematography wasn't the best, but hey what do you expect when you are in a coffin with no/little lighting.

They added this Iraqi storyline to add some intrigue into the movie, but just imagine if they placed the action in the USA, they probably wouldn't even have a movie.
The ending I did like very much, but it was so telegraphed from a mile out thats what will happen. Also the opening title sequence was so out of character with the rest of the film, I thought it was alittle inappropriate.

I did see things in the film I liked alot but it was far too contrived for me. 6/10

This film is one that definitely stays with you for a while. I am still thinking about how horrible it must be to be trapped like that in a box only with a lighter and a phone. I must admit though that I found it strange that he had such fabulous reception from underground somewhere in an Iraqi desert all the way to the US. Also didn't quite understand the technicality of making that video on the phone and sending it to the kidnappers - don't you at least need an email address for this or am I hopelessly behind the times? That could well be, I don't possess a snazzy phone like the one in the film. I definitely don't think it's a con though. The various phone calls served the purposed of letting us know how the story unfolded, and ask yourself who you would call if you were in a situation like that? A call to your frail mother who lives in a home with dementia is certainly not made just for the sake of using up calltime. All he had was a phone to stay in touch with the outside world.

I'm thinking about watching it... not sure... Has anyone mentioned how long is the film? VUE leaflet says 1 hr 50 min. Is this with the trailers? The running time may affect my decision to see it.... I'm interested, especially after reading your reviews but at the same time I don't like scary movies

You know, I was so absorbed, I have no idea when it finished but it started at 6.40pm and we were home by 9.20pm so 1hour 50 could be about right. There weren't any trailers.

Video messaging just needs a number, but where do I begin about the plot?....
Umm...I have problems getting through to my bank.electricity company etc, even he had problems getting through to his wife but he quite easily gets through to the state department. Can you really even dial 001 911 from outside the USA at the beginning?
The reception issue isn't much of a problem, you can get reception even on most of the district line! I know this is the age of the internet, but having a video made and sent to youtube etc within (maybe 1-2 hrs) of getting himself into his situation? purleaseee.
Why was he buried and the other girl was "dealt" with in the normal way..... it's all rather contrived.

I saw this today with a break of 125 mins in the middle. Don't ask - it's going to be too complicated to explain!

The film has a running time (without trailers) of 95 minutes for those who were wondering.

I've not a lot to add to what's been said already. I think people are either going to love it or hate it. Personally I loved it. It's certainly different to anything I've ever seen before.

It was tense, dramatic, claustrophobic, occasionally funny and sometimes breathtakingly annoying.

Tssk some employers! I better say no more.
