Paranormal Activity 2
I just saw a trailer for it, didn't show much. I am really surprised they are making a sequel (well for the money obviously) but I thought the original people behind the film would go on to make something else instead. I wonder what's their budget this time? It wouldn't feel right if they spent too much money on the sequel

Re: Paranormal Activity 2
I didn't see the first one but I assume that Paranormal Activity2 is either a sequel or perhaps a prequel to it.
It was another of those Blair Witch, Rec2 shaky handheld camcordery affairs supplemented with some CCTV footage to provide some alternative but similar medium. These now seem to have become pretty much the de facto horror industry standard these days.
A couple of loud noise, jump out of your skin moments in this, and one highly amusing (but I suspect intended to be deadly serious) bit which revolves around some machinery with apparently mind of its own.
As with all good horrors it builds slowly to maximise the shocks when they do come. I was slightly disappointed with it though because of this to the point where I was becoming a bit bored with all the inactivity.
I'd score it as a 6 out of 10.

It's a prequel apparently
Re: Paranormal Activity 2
I can't wait to see this, the first one made me a nervous wreck, like all horrors should!

Re: Paranormal Activity 2
Saw this today at WIQ as part 3 of our tripleheader.
The first 85 minutes or so of this is a prequel. The final few minutes are a sequel. If that makes any sense. It fits in well with PA but in saying that, it's about as spooky. Depending on who's watching it that may be very spooky or not spooky at all. Unfortunately, I fall into the latter category, killjoy that I am. It's decent enough entertainment if you've seen the first one but is far from essential viewing. I hope that this is the final PA. I fear it won't be, but I'm not convinced the writers have any way of going further with the story. I'd give this 6.5/10

That's very generous, I can't give it more than a 3 I'm afraid... didn't do much for me.soonforgotten wrote:I'd give this 6.5/10
The best thing about it was someone in the back of the cinema doing a loud fart and the entire audience bursting into hysterics for about 5 minutes.

Re: Paranormal Activity 2
It was the timing, as well as intensity... and I think most of us were just bored with the film by that point.
Re: Paranormal Activity 2
I thought it did well on the suspense side of things, not too many films do that without the use of music.
