Awww poor you - and poor her! Know how it feels. I was supposed to go to a corporate do tonight but it's out of the question the way I feel.

Was gonna go, but after deriving about 4 hours sleep all night, I figured it'd be better to catch up on sleep instead, shame, enjoy it.

Re: Unstoppable
Many thanks to Diane65 for the tickets. I wanted to go on the 9th but they were the only tickets available. Turns out I made a good choice - the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was on and while I was walking past I got to see Helena Bonham Carter, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, John Hurt and J.K. Rowling! It was madness.
Unstoppable had a very basic plot line but made use of this with some impressive filming (though I don't really approve of all the ridiculous zooming in) - I cared about the characters but only really in the second half. It was obvious how it was going to end, but how it came to that end was quite exhilarating. Marginally better than most other action films (still not saying much) but as it's Tony Scott, I'd give it 6.5/10

Re: Unstoppable
I really quite enjoyed this! Gripping and some good music to keep it pacy, and sure it was fairly obvious how it was gonna end but good nonethless.

Re: Unstoppable
I saw this earlier in the week. I really liked this film, I thought the action was at the right pace and the characters generally worked well, even though we hardly saw much of them outside the train drama. It seemed like a run-of-the mill type role for Denzel Washington - is he getting typecast these days?? I feel most of recent roles are very similar (or maybe I'm thinking of the connection with Pelham and the trains). I thought Chris Pine and Rosario Dawson were good and I liked the Ned character for some light comedic relief.
There was a lot of technical language - I feel like I have a greater appreciation of how these trains work! The film wasn't too long so I didn't get the feeling that it dragged. 8.5/10 for me.

Re: Unstoppable
I saw this at a respectably full(ish) Metrocentre last night. Not too many latecomers for this, but the cinema did show rather a lot of trailers presumably in an attempt to satisfy both those who came at the revised correct time and those who thought it started half an hour later.
I'd heard good reports about the film and it didn't disappoint.
A good basic simple story combined with some underlying people and relationships stuff. It's an enjoyable and quite exciting film, very easy watching without being too taxing on the brain. Like the train, it moves along at quite a pace and never seems slow. Great action packed visuals too and some amusing characterisation. Some good performances from Denzel and Co. I especially liked the actor who played the unreasonable company owning Fat Controller character with his eye on the balance sheet trying to avert disaster on the cheap. Booo Hisss!
8 out of 10 for this one, methinks.
