Thanks to Biggins saw this earlier today at Edinburgh WH.

Film started late as the manager was waiting on more people turning up. Sadly not everyone is a FMUKer and would not have seen Biggins helpful post.

Loved the film, would gladly have pa*d to see it.

Very well done, and loved Eustace. Knew I had seen him somewhere before , and remembered where at the end.
Well worth the effort of getting there.

9/10 from a very happy MM :D :D

Westerhailes was less than 40% full and as MM said the manager was expecting more people to turn up.

Nothing to add to others comments, a very enjoyable family film with Eustace being the star. Glad to have being able to let a few FMUKers to know that the screening was definately taking place. 8/10

I took myself off to see this earlier today - went to see the 2D version, which worked well for me. There were a lot of children in the audience, some as young as three years old. I expect they'll be having nightmares about some of the scenes.
It was good - not terrific, but if you read these books as a child, this film will hold something special for you, as it has for me. Children up and down the country will be delighted by the special effects in the film, which I won't disclose here.

As mentioned previously, young Will Poulter was excellent.

I expect these new characters will be kept on for the fourth instalment - The Silver Chair. I'm going to dig those books out and re-read the lot (after I've finished re-reading all the Harry Potter books.)

Take the kids - they won't be disappointed - 8/10.

hmm.. I think a 4th is in serious jeopardy now given it's just opened badly in the States. Looks like Disney was right to drop the franchise afterall. We shall see...

I read the books as a kid, and again maybe 10 years ago, so fairly up to speed with Lewis’s oeuvre.

The first film in the series I thought was ho-hum, the second (Prince Caspian) absolutely outstanding ... this one? I’m afraid it’s back to ho-hum.

It kind of dragged for the first third (and far too many swooshing, panning shots around the ship), and I kept getting images of Sandi Toksvig whenever Eustace opened his mouth – it was distracting. Then again, ‘post-transformation’, he came in to his own - but it was too late.

The casting director walks a fine line with this genre – the characters are painfully twee at times, reminiscent of the Children’s Film Foundation de rigueur. I can live with it if the setting is right, but at times I’m sure we’d have seen Enid Blyton blush if you get my drift - and that’s why the Yanks (can I say that these days?), I’m guessing ,are finding this one difficult to swallow.

I’m SO disappointed in giving it a 5/10 - I had the card with 9 on it on my lap throughout the screening.

And don’t get me started on the 3D –that was a p*ss take.

Sorry to be so negative - I'm a fan and desperately wanted it to succeed.

Oh no, that'd be such a shame! A while back I had given up hope of actually seeing The Voyage of the Dawn Treader after all the delays/problems the makers of the film encountered but since it actually came out and I've heard so many good reviews about it, I was hoping that maybe we would get more movies in the series after all.

I saw this today. It was OK, but it didn't really float my boat ;)

Felt similar in feel to me to Prince of Persia but I didn't think it was as good.

fantastic film to look at.

acting was good enough (the kid who played Eustace played a perfect prig), and the story meandered around to keep you watching. No Ben Barnes, and none of his midle eastern accent too. Actually felt like you were watching a remake of those Sinbad movies of the 70s!

a fantastic alternative dream sequence halfway through, and a breathtaking addendum finale with Aslan. all in all the trilogy of films ends well enough, well higher than Potter is managing anyway.

probably not one for adults though, theres none of that subtle innuendo.

oh yeah, during the first ten minutes i dropped off, but dont, its just the beginning thats a bit ropey. and whislt i was napping i had a wierd dream that a 30 foot tall daniel craig / lord asriel (from the golden compass but with wierdly scary glowing white eyes) was looming down menacingly at little me out of a dark rainy screen. that scared me enough to wake up! very odd.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Dad took me to see this today(free movie wahey! ;D), i wasnt expecting much tbf, because i thought the second was very bad compared to the first.
We opted for 2D naturally! Glasses +3D glasses do NOT look attractive! x)

I actually enjoyed it :D a little bit of stiff acting but not as much as the others, I LOVED eustace and Reepsheep(god knows how you spell that sorry!)
At the end of the film I wanted to see what aslans country looked like myself!
Might actually get the books, knowing from experience that the films never do the real thing justice!
