I went to see this today - a creditable little movie - good for filling in a couple of hours. The singing and dancing were terrific. I was not a fan of Christina Aguilera before, but I am now!

How many facelifts has Cher had? Her voice is still incredible, and I wish my body was something like hers - sadly not.

7/10 from me - go and see it if you enjoy great dancing and music.

I've got some free odeon tickets so I'll go and see this on Christmas Eve (I always go in the day then go out for early dinner). If you like it Andrews I'm sure I'll love it o/

I saw this tonight too! I love Christina's voice so was looking forward to it and was not disappointed! Wow that girl can sing. And Cher, what can I say, Cher is Cher, still fantastic voice and figure. A very predictable story but really enjoyed the dancing and music. 7/10

What a palaver at Vue Westfield, tried to use my Vue Vouchers to see Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest before they stopped showing it, but was told it was screening in "Scene" which is "VIP", so tickets cannot be used. So we decided to see Burlesque instead, but was told to exchange voucher at the Ben & Jerry counter, who told us to wait a minute while he decides to do several other things before telling us we needed to fill in a form, and he had to go and find the form, and when he returned with the form, was told, oh no, the earlier screening was also showing in "Scene", but the late show was not! So fed up with their hoity toity attitude, we went to Shepherd's Bush Vue and saw Burlesque there - needless to say, our vouchers were welcomed, transaction done in a minute. Vue Westfield should really train their staff with better customer service whether we wanted to see in a Standard Screen or a Scene Screen, with or without vouchers.

Glad to hear real people have liked the film better than the critics (surely this film is about having a good time and escaping for an hour or two?) and that Vue SB was more welcoming than the Westfield site. I bet the SB branch has been suffering since Westfield opened but as pxc noted, many films are shown at both and SB is actually more accessible too - at street level, and no need to wend your way through a mega-mall.

I actually thought SB was good, comfy seats, big screens, the entrance may not be as extravagant and luxurious as WF, but it is easier access and I much prefer supporting locals, if I had a choice. o/

Heaven knows, I'm not a great fan of burlesque shows. For me they always seem a bit sleazy and lowlife, like strip joints. Nevertheless, I decided to see this film yesterday though and thought it was really quite good.

Admittedly, the storyline is a little predictable, but it's not really any the worse for that. At least someone had taken the trouble to wrap all that singing and dancing up in a basic story, unlike those dance movies we had earlier in the year. Yes, I'm referring to you Streetdance and Step Up - Hang your heads in shame!

The film is basically a showcase for Christina Aguilera's voice and boy does she belt it out in a style that is up there with Etta James, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and other raunchy blues and soul singers. Not too shabby a performance from Christina either on the old acting front. The legendary Cher is still in great shape for a lady in her mid 60's and she still has a great voice. The ever good Stanley Tucci gave a very fine performance as the entertaining, wise and likeable "wardrobe mistress" character Sean.

A very sound 7.5 out of 10 from me. o/

Cheesy predictable story line.... very similar to Coyote Ugly in too many ways, not keen on Christina's Acting but her voice was amazing, Cher is a legend.. enough said.
Can't believe how quick Alice forgive Jack.. but I forgive her as he was bloody hot...(
I want left over cookies). Dancing, singing and costumes were fantastic.... I bloody loved it and can't wait to see it on Stage... 8/10 X
