Yep, it's definitely a man's film! I was so, so bored for the first 3/4 of the film, I nodded off several times. Granted well acted by the mum and Christian Bale. But not my kind of film. But interesting to see a film that I don't normally go and see. 6/10

Lovely to see some some new and old faces tonight, newbie birovr, Sunny Saver and Marialionnza and regulars ejwrank and soonforgotten. Had a lovely evening just catching up with everyone, and nice chatting to you birovr! Hope to see more of you.

Saw this tonight at Acton Vue about 60% full but it was on one of the larger screens there. Christian Bale was great and when he wasn't on screen it wasn't as interesting. The family dynamics were far more interesting than the actual boxing parts.

I was actually surprised by this. It's not my usual type of film especially as I absolutely hate boxing but it was the family dynamics that I found intriguing. I thought the mother was brilliant and the sisters were just too outrageous to be real. I would dread to have a family like it.

Overall a good enough watch and seeing Mark Wahlberg shirtless and all muscles was an added bonus.

7.5/10 from my gang

Well both my husband and I were impressed. We are not boxing fans and there were some scenes that had me looking away but the acting was superb and I thought you got a real feel for the people and the town of Lowell, Massachusetts. Both leads were terrific and of course the mother really was the mother from hell and excellent at it.

You're often right in predicting what I will or won't like but not this time, Beate!

Not my type of film but still sort of enjoyed it. Full at the Trafford Centre they even asked to see our passes but I just said that I had forgotten mine so no problem (it was a new member of staff). 6/10

I really liked this, the boxing was fine and I found the family dynamic interesting. I thought Bale and Wahlberg were very good in their roles, particularly Bale. Glad I got to see it. 8/10
