I loved this film. Yes predictable story but the soundtrack was amazing.
9/10

Also, could believe how much Felicity (Kim) sounds like Billy Pipper.

I saw this at Swiss Cottage and the screen was pretty full. Plus I met some FMUKers (nice to put pxc's and Ms Thrifty's faces with the names!)

This was easy viewing - a good girlie firm. Likeable lead character, reasonable amount of comedy, impressive snowboarding stunts, a good looking cast (although that's typical for rom-coms) and plot was entertaining despite being predictable.

7.5/10 from me.

I saw this film at Southend Odeon this morning with my daughter and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The cinema was only 2/3rds full and yet the room was the smallest we've ever been in, so obviously not many tickets could have been issued in the first place.

Large, comfy seats throughout and a big screen that was disproportionate to the size of the room - which made it feel more like a private screening. 8/10 from me - good clean fun with a happy ending.

Can't believe I talked myself into going to see this... Looking at the high marks on here, is it possible there are two films called Chalet Girl? The one I saw today was just unfunny drivel, unbelievably predictable and lazy script, almost too painful for words. A 10 it is not! The Alps looked good, Bill Nighy had a nice holiday, but what a waste of time. I really should have stayed in bed.

I think it's just that as funthing29 said, it's more of a girlie film. I enjoyed it and it was nice to see pxc again and to meet her OH and funthing29 and to see SF (I gather) from afar. At Swiss Cottage Odeon the film was in a small auditorium so it filled up well and fortunately it wasn't screen 4 which is currently minus heating! I also missed the extras at the end through rushing for the loo - was trying to remember whether it was this film which others had said had the additional footage so sorry to find I missed it. Layout at Odeon Swiss Cottage confused me, too, as once you've left the foyer all the doors are unmarked and look the same, so when you're trying to retrace your steps you can easily find yourself out on the street instead. Film probably only worth 7/10 but I'm glad to have seen the it. The only cast members I recognised or had heard of were Bills Bailey and Nighy, Brooke Shields and Tamsin Egerton, i.e. neither of the young leads nor any of the supporting actors.

denisel wrote:My daughter and I went to see this at Tunbridge Wells this morning - very empty cinema unfortunately - cant understand why the the availability is NIL yet empty seats :tears: However, we loved the film. Predictable yes but nevertheless really good. Very funny too. Just wish I could snow board like that - makes my attempts look very miserable  .

Bill Nighy could have been used more admittedly. Ed Westwick - well what can I say - love him in Gossip Girl with his american accent but now in this film with his english...mmmm...yes please is what i'll say!!!

Liked the clips at the end too - always good to see those.

On the whole - gets a 10/10 for me. One i'll watch again.
I agree with you on this one denisel. Yes, its predictable, and granted the stalwart actors were underused, but lovely modern "rags to riches" take on story. Thought it is funny and heartwarming, excellently acted, it had some great lines, beautiful scenery, and was well made. I loved it! Brilliant entertainment. Enjoyed the out takes at the end too. 10/10 o/

Good to see soonforgotten and Ms Thrifty at the screening, and lovely to meet funthing29 for the first time! I hope she did not think I am a stalker when I called out to her in the semi dark, to which she asked "Do I know you?" :D as she looked around for an empty seat. Unfortunately, it was too dark to see my FMUK badge, but we made our introductions and settled down in a very packed upstairs Screen 2. Anyway, I think they have fixed their heating problems for the screen downstairs, as the sign asking people to get a refund if it was too cold after half an hour was not there anymore.

When we came out the sun was shining. So all in all a lovely Saturday morning. o/

8/10.
Light-hearted fun. Nice to chill out & lose yourself in. Yes it was predictable but who cares? Very enjoyable.

What an epic balls-up at Odeon Greenwich this morning. We were left out in the cold past the 10:30 start time, until I (ever the White knight!) finally beckoned over a member of staff through the glass door, slapping my ticket against the glass so she could see it was supposed to start at half 10. Some frantic waving and radioing inside ensued, and she opened the door to a chorus of booing from the assembled crowd outside. Then to add insult to injury we were all sent to screen 7, I got nicely settled in my favourite middle of the third row from the back (I hate Odeon premiere seats) only for a staff remember to then go to the front and tell us oh sorry it's actually in screen 8. So much flapping and trampling next door to the sub-zero temperatures screen 8, only THEN to be told, oh sorry we've just released there are two preview screenings this morning, so No Strings Attached is in here but Chalet Girl is in screen 7! I NEARLY SCREAMED AT THIS POINT! So now I am back in the considerably warmer screen 7, and I'm listening to some weirdo with her headphones on singing Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love" very out of tune, and waiting for the film to start half an hour late

More to follow on the actual film itself....
