I saw this tonight in London and thought this was as good a time as any to start a film review blog so just in case anyone's interested in reading my review:

Loved the whole evening, the film, the Q&A - granted it was long at 1 hour and 20 minutes! But I enjoyed every minute of it!! I even stayed behind to chat to the director for five minutes. Sorry to a_person for dragging her back in for the Q&A - did not realise it was not the usual half an hour Q&A. Lovely to meet so many FMUKers, and meet for the first time, Denichka, mesha and jeancomp.

Loved the humour of the film, the music, the story, and it was so upbeat, everyone left with a smile on their faces. The animation of Rio was so realistic too, the city seemed so real to me, as I have been to Rio and that is how I remember it - the Sugarloaf mountain and Christ Redeemer so majestic, the Guanabara Bay, the vibrancy of the carnival, it really brings it all back to me. I was there again! Both my friend and I gave it 10/10.

We then went to the Albannach, five minutes away to have the free bellinis - I printed loads of copies, hoping some FMUKers would join us, but everyone had left when we left. I know it was quite late. We enjoyed the free drinks, had two each, and the music and dancing was flowing in the nightclub lounge. A fab start to the weekend. o/

The Sunday Times and The Times invite your family to see Rio in 3D, the spectacular new animated movie from the makers of Ice Age. You can watch it for free on Sunday, April 10.

Simply b*y The Sunday Times this weekend for your exclusive vouchers giving you one free adult ticket and one free child ticket.

Then, collect five tokens from The Times all next week for the offer of two more free tickets.

If all that isn’t enough, in this Sunday’s paper we’re also celebrating the release of the film with a Rio special edition of The Funday Times – back for one week only.

Join the carnival atmosphere, starting with The Sunday Times
this weekend.

RIO™ © 2011 Fox. Available in 2D and 3D. The Sunday Times ticket offer is for one adult ticket and one child ticket. The Times ticket offer is for one adult ticket and one child ticket. The in paper cinema voucher can be exchanged for a cinema ticket at the box office of any Cineworld Cinema (or Movie House in Northern Ireland ) for performances starting prior to 5pm on April 10, 2011.

Tuff luck :x we don't have any Cineworlds near us, couldn't go today and can't go Sunday!
And I didn't receive any free Odeon vouchers....and I had my hopes high for that! but wasn't even promised any
ah thanks I caught the advert and been trying to find out more but my ancient computer and dial-up keeps crashing. It needs posting on Cinema deals if you can please.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the lady in the row in front of me (she must have been from Times+) said they are streaming Ice Age on the Times website at 5pm on Sunday.

Thanks for the review. Your mother didn't lie, you really didn't like it! Unfortunately, the only thing I agree on is that 3D would not have been necessary - the film is great as it is.

Looking forward to seeing this on Sunday. I couldn't make it yesterday because I was going to a gig.

That's because he would have preferred to be watching Arsenal winning somewhere... anywhere.

Am looking forward to seeing this tomorrow, especially because I am taking my young cousins, so even if I don't enjoy it they will. They even liked Yogi Bear 8O.

Too right, sunnysaver. He'll be cheering them on later today. Hope you and cousins enjoy the film tomorrow. If they enjoyed Yogi Bear they'll probably be knocked out by Rio.
